I had a Maytag Neptune front loading washing machine that left black smudges and spots on my laundry. Sears Repair fixed it many times, each time a different diagnosis, until it was finally completely re-built--new motor, new drum, etc. It still left black marks. In frustration, I threw it out and bought a Bosch Nexxt 500 series front loader and am now experiencing the exact same problems. I don't use alot of detergent. I rarely use the hot setting, most of my washes are cold, with an occasional warm. I stuff the washer to capacity, based on the instructions from the Maytag Neptune video. What the heck is this? I'm ruining my laundry. HELP!
Thanks for your thoughts, but we don't have any steel buttoned shirts and when I wash jeans, I do them with other darks and ALL my clothes, sheets, towels have marks on them. Thanks for your thoughts, but we don't have any steel buttoned shirts and when I wash jeans, I do them with other darks and ALL my clothes, sheets, towels have marks on them.
I had Sears repair to my home on 10 occasions. I hate to say it, but everyone had a different diagnosis and no one was correct. I had similar experience with my GE built in refrigerator with Sears Repair and finally had a GE repair person diagnose correctly. I don't think Sears employs alot of competent personnel, unfortunatley. Your suggestion to call the manufacturer is a good one, but I have had the problem now with two different hight end front loaders. But I will try it. I don't wash any greasy clothing, just so you know--do you know how I can clean the hose? Is this the 1st reason that you think is really the problem?
Also, I will definitely try a few hot washes with a descaling agent--are you talking about Calgon bubble bath? (I wouldn't think so but who knows?) Where can I get a descaling agent? Also, when I do this, should I have clothing in the washer or should I do it on empty?

Didnt you wonder that it might be your clothes? are you putting steel buttoned shirts? or jeans, this usually gives rise to smears and a lot of stuff other than outrageous scratching.
This is really weird!!!! Check with sears and see if this model is on the defective or recalled list. If not, call the manufacturer and have them send someone out, and show them what is happening.
your problem may be because you generally use a 'cool' wash ie 30' or 40' Try a really HOT programme or two to see if this will remove the deposits that have built up What happens is that quite a lot of 'undisolved powder' tends to congregate inside the machine because of 'low temperature washes' Its a good idea now & then to use CALGON or some other descaling agent.your problem may be because you generally use a 'cool' wash ie 30' or 40' Try a really HOT programme or two to see if this will remove the deposits that have built up What happens is that quite a lot of 'undisolved powder' tends to congregate inside the machine because of 'low temperature washes' Its a good idea now & then to use CALGON or some other descaling agent.

Your Maytag
Neptune washing machine displays error codes, also called "help codes,"
to identify specific problems with your washer. Once you close your
Maytag Neptune's door, the machine locks the door, goes through the
selected wash cycles and unlocks the door when the laundry is finished.
Error codes appear when there are problems with the door, the inflow and
drainage of water and the motor.
Do
Your Maytag Neptune washer displays the "do" help code when the washing machine
is trying to start a cycle, but the door is open or not locked
properly. If this message is displayed, close the door securely and
restart the washing cycle.
FL
The "FL" code indicates that the washing machine was unable to
lock the door after you closed it. Open and close the door tightly, then
restart the washing cycle.
Sd
The "Sd" code indicates that you have added too much detergent to
the washing machine and your laundry has too many suds. The machine
will stop displaying this code if it has successfully run the suds
recovery cycle, which removes the excess suds from the wash load. If the
code remains, reduce the amount of detergent in the load. Use less
detergent for similar loads of laundry in the future.
PF
The "PF" code indicates that a power failure has occurred.
Restart the wash cycle. If the code still appears, check that the
washing machine is still plugged in to the electrical outlet.
Nd
The "nd" code indicates that your Maytag Neptune is not draining
as it should. Check that the drain hose isn't kinked and that the stand
pipe isn't clogged. If you find either of these problems, fix them
before restarting the washing cycle.
LO
The "LO" code appears when the washing machine has finished the
selected wash cycle, but cannot unlock the door. Verify that the door is
closed properly, push the "Off" button, and wait two minutes. The door
should unlock and the error code will disappear. If the error code
remains, unplug the washing machine, wait two minutes and plug it back
into the electrical outlet.
Lr
The "Lr" code indicates that the washing machine's motor is not
running as it should. Have your Maytag Neptune washing machine serviced
by a certified Maytag repair professional.
do NOT call the Blue guys from Sears,,,he told me it would cost more than $2000 to fix a machine that will wash but not spin or drain ( I could get it to do both by pushing certain buttons). It is now outside and I have a used $215 washer that is doing great.
This means locked rotor. you have a bad motor control unit. take the door off by removing the 4 screws also take the side/front panel off. You will see the motor control board. Do you have a delay wash cycle? If you do set it to delay wash remove the jp4 connector if the unit tumbles on it's own then the motor controller is fine but if it does not then you have a bad motor control board. Check it out and let me know. also there is a fuse on that board if you can locate it and check for continuity that will also help diagnose it. MAKE SURE YOU UNPLUG IT FIRST THOUGH!!!!
take a rag and wipe around front door boot first does any thing come off on rag if this ckd ok does it keep a roaring noise when spinning? if so suspect rear bearing or corrision on spider this is tub support behind basket..ask for estimate before repair as this could result in major expense to repair good luck
