I had a similar 'rebooting' issue with my WD external drive caused by a faulty USB interface on my Desktop: if you have an external USB hub, try running your drive via the plug-in USB Hub to shield your external drive from your desktop inbuilt USB electronics..

Iomega eGo Helium 1TB has a damaged PCB. Local 1TB Casing do detects the HDD and its Drives. BUT asks for Formating the Drives. Which case can be purchased. how to recover the data. ?

It might be tricky, but you can remove the hdd from its casing, and install into a pc with compatible connections as a slave drive. Make sure to handle the drive carefully, and try to copy any data you want to another drive on the pc, then run chkdsk X: /f /r on the affected drive.
Another possible solution is to rightclick on My Computer, Manage, go to the drive mangement menu, and rightclick on the drive, and import it into your system so that windows can recognize it.

Ive been using my iomega eGo external hard drive for a couple years now. Today, it wont show up when i plug it into my laptop. The LED is blinking, albeit in a very random rhythm. Any suggestions?

These are some of the most robust external drives available. But, everything breaks. The most likely cause is a failed controller in the case. Remove the drive and put it into a new case.

Windows 7 driver for160GB eGo USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive?

According to the Iomega Support web site you do not need additional drivers for using your Iomega eGo drive with Windows 7 unless you have a USB 3.0 device.

See this Iomega document on what you should do if your drive is not detected on Windows 7

How do you get the Iomega eGo Hellium 350GB hard drive to be recognized and initialized by Microsoft Vista Operating system? Have tried the instructions from Iomega and they do not work. The system...

one thing that is possible, is that you may have another drive letter assigned to the letter the iomega is trying to use.

Try this....Click on your start orb and type in Disk Management.
open the Disk Management utility in Windows and see if you see the iomega drive listed in the list of disks on the bottom.

If you DO see the iomega drive there, make sure it shows a healthy partition (It should say something like Fat 32 or NTFS as the file system type...if it shows "RAW" or "damaged" or something like that, you may need to erase and format the drive)

Then, try right clicking on the drive and choosing "Change Drive Letter and Paths..."
from there try a new drive letter in case you already have another peripheral using the drive letter the iomega drive is trying to grab. This could cause Windows to recognize the drive but still be unable to see it in your explorer.

Good Luck

How do I back up my computer with an iomega portable hard drive?

  • 1 ***** the size of files you need for taking the backup. Files having graphics, sound and videos occupy more space than a simple text file.

2 Plan the future requirements and consider the space needed accordingly.

3 Choose an external drive of 20 GB or above to store huge data backups.

4 Get an external hard drive and connecting cables to attach the drive to your computer.

5 Select the data you want for backup. Organize the data into folders and sub-folders for easy find. Financial data, digital photos and music can form priority data for backup.

6 Connect the drive to your computer. Use the drag and drop options for taking the backup.

7 Remove the drive after properly ejecting by right clicking on the task bar on the desktop.

8 Keep the external drive away from the place where you have your computer when done. If your computer gets damaged due to any unforeseen reason, you will have your entire data safe in the external hard drive. It minimizes the risk of data loss.
