Two brand new games - the new Super Mario Bros and Twilight Scene It - will not work on the Wii. The Wii turns on and everything is fine, but the new games will not load at all - not even an error message. (The Wii itself we've had for a couple of years.) We don't think it's the Wii itself because our old games load fine! What's up with that? I mean, what are the chances that both new games are duds? Is there something wrong with the Wii even though it loads the old games?

We had the same issue this morning. you have to upgrade the Wii system menu. Look in the front page of the Super Mario Bros instruction bulletin and it tells you to do this. You have to be connected to the internet through your Wii though to do this, but our is now working. The download takes a few minutes but all is good. Hope this helps.
Just select the System Update option in Wii System Settings - just make sure your Wii is connected to the internet.

Sounds like she has a wii modchip or something installed. Otherwise, you either have a bootlegged Super Mario Bros. disc or there's something wrong with the Wii disc drive. I'm assuming you went through their online troubleshooting support. If you still have a valid warranty, you can send it over to Nintendo Repair and they'll fix your Nintendo Wii up good as new for no charge at all. Not even shipping!
I had a simaler problem with my Wii. Solution: save data to SD card (or a card that goes with X-Box 360) and get a new X-Box 360. The thing with my Wii happens in the following cases: When I enter the observatory in Super Mario Galaxy, when I use the elevator to Flipside First Floor in Super Paper Mario, when I go through the living room in Elebits, and when I transform into a wolf in Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The beep buzz thing happens in Super Mario Galaxy and Twilight Princess, and slows down in Elebits. The game freezes in Super Paper Mario, but the music keeps going. Trie getting a new X-Box 360. When I got a new Wii, the problem was fixed! Also, there is a rare glitch that only some Wiis have. The glitch was gone when I got a new Wii. The glitch is: In Super Mario Galaxy, when Bowser tries to stomp you, he sometimes escapes the planet's gravity and flies into space. You can watch, and then restart.
