Hello,

There's a timer for the display backlight that can be set and used for
saving power. When leaving the player untouched for a certain time, the backlight switches off. Touching any button will turn on the backlight, restarting the timer.

To set the backlight timer on the Sansa Clip,
execute the following steps:
1. Press Menu button to return to the Main Menu.
2. Move to Settings and select it.
3. Select Display.
4. Select Backlight.
5. Press |<< or >>| button to select desired backlight timer.

SOURCE: Sansa Clip Audiobook Question

You don't have to convert or anything. Just choose a genre tag of Audiobook (non-plural). And your mp3 will show up in the Audiobook section

SOURCE: Sansa Clip and MAC

This player is not Mac-compatible. The computer will see it, but it won't be able to add songs in any meaningful way.

SOURCE: my sansa clip won't play the songs I loaded on!

I've had this happen a couple of times in the last 6 months. You can get it to play again by chosing the format option from the settings menu. Of course, then you've lost everything you had loaded on to it. Download your music/audio books again and they will play.

Like other MP3 players, the SanDisk Sansa series of music and video players lets you listen to your music while on the go. With their easy-to-use control interfaces, Sansa players let you add, change or delete tracks in a playlist quickly. However, there might be times when you want to lock the player so that you don't stop playback or change the current track inadvertently -- like when exercising or jogging. Locking a Sansa player ensures that music plays continuously even if you touch controls on the face of the unit accidentally. To make changes to a queued play list or stop playback on a Sansa with the controls disabled, you must first unlock the player manually.
Sansa Clip Zip and Fuze+ Players Step 1 Press and hold the power button on the Clip Zip or Fuze+ player a few seconds to power on the device. Scroll to "Music" on the home screen and press the "Select" button. The Select button is a rectangular or square button in the center of the button-control pad beneath the viewing screen on the Sansa player.
Step 2 Press the "Play" button to play the first track in your play list. Alternatively, press the right or left arrow button to navigate to another song in the list, and then press the "Play" button.
Step 3 Press the "Power" button on the top of the player once quickly to lock the unit. The player will play music continuously while disabling all navigation controls on the face of the unit. A padlock icon appears on the face of the player indicating the lock feature is active. Don't hold the Power button after you press it, as this will turn off the player.
Step 4 Unlock the player by quickly pressing the "Power" button. The Unlocked icon appears on the player screen.
Sansa Clip+ Step 1 Power on the Sansa Clip+ player.
Step 2 Choose "Music" on the Main Menu screen, then press the "Select" button. The Select button is the square one in the center of the control pad on the face of the player.
Step 3 Press "Play" to begin playing tracks from your play list.
Step 4 Press and hold the "Home" button just below the viewing screen. After a couple of seconds, a padlock icon appears at the top of the viewing screen indicating the Sansa Clip+ locking feature is active.
Step 5 Press and hold the "Home" button again to unlock the Clip+ player.
Tips
  • With the Sansa Clip Zip and Fuze+ players, locking the devices disables all navigation controls on the unit (i.e. Play and Fast Forward), but not the volume control. If you lock the Clip Zip or Fuze+, you can still adjust the volume as needed. By contrast, if you lock the Clip+ player, the unit disables all controls on the player -- including the volume control buttons.

I have a sansa clip and I can;t get it out of the radio mode and back to playing my music/books. I have tried holding the power button for 20 seconds multiple times

Do you know how to get to in main menu? using menu button - the small button under screen, on the right. After you press that button, you can see "FM Radio" with a picture, use up/down button to get into Music options.
Good luck

My sansa clip is stuck on radio, re-setting does not work,

Can you see your screen? If not turn on your player and press the home button. Press up once and play 2 maybe 3 times to get it back on your whole playlist section. It should start playing music then.

Loaded music onto my sansa clip mp3 player but unable to play back the music. only the preloaded music will play. i need operator's instruction manual.

I have the sansa clip. You have to make sure that you have windows media player, the updated version, and you have to have windows xp or higher service pack 2.... What you need to do is erase everything out of your sansa clip... Do the upgrades if neccessary and re-download them.

Sandisk Sansa Clip MP3 Player problem

The songs that are on there were probably taken from the Rhapsody music service, or some other subscription music service. You must continue/renew the subscription to be able to continue playing them on the Sans clip.
