HP Officejet 5510 All-In-One Thermal Printer Logo
Anonymous Posted on Dec 24, 2009

I have an Officejet 5510 all-in-one printer/scanner/fax. When do a manual print (laying paper face down on glass), it works fine. When I use the automatic feed the copies have black lines along the entire length of the copy. Couldn't find any fix for this in the HP documents I have.

Haven't tried this type of on-line support before, it worked very well and the solution fixed my problem. I called HP for assistance, got some guy in in Asia on a VOIP phone who supposedly knew English, it was extremely frustrating. Thanks very much.

You need to inspect and clean the narrow glass and the white reference bar that sits above the narrow glass. Scratches, whiteout, and debris will cause the lines on scanned documents.

How do I load a document in my fax Machine

If you are laying your original on a glass, like in a flatbed scanner, you lay it face down.
If your fax works like my printer, the printed surface is on the bottom tray face down. It It gets sucked into the printer under the roller, around the back of the roller and comes out in the upper tray over the roller and face up. You laid the paper face down.

I hope this might help resolve your question.

hello!

first, you need to lift up both the ADF unit and the flatbed scanner glass unit.

No problem, but don't know if the print goes face side up por down into the printer when faxing

Where you put the paper must be a little icon like a page with lines, if you see this put the paper face up. I am surprise you did not check with a fax recipient to see if they got it (Blank paper or the fax)

When sending a fax do i place the paper with the print side up

You place the paper face side up when feeding through the loader on top. You can also scan the fax in placing the paper face side down on the glass plate of the scanner portion.

Whitch way does the paper go in for faxing ?

If your using the feeder on the top of the scanner, it should go face up. If you are faxing from the glass - face down.

When faxing does paper face uup or down

You load the originals print side uo on the document feeder tray or print side down on the glass.
To send a single page fax you can either load the original on document feeder tray or on the glass; to send a multi-page fax you must use the document feeder tray.

The position of the paper is the same either you copy, fax or scan.
All this is clearly explained in the user's manual, that you should read and you can download from HP support pages for you printer:

HP 5510 Scanner/Copier/Fax Stuck

I had the same problems some months ago. I only solved it when I deleted the printer settings from my computer and reinstalled the software, making sure that I installed all the components from the CD. Also make sure that the printer is on fax default setting when you are using it as fax. You can check this by going to My Computer then Control Panel, then choose Printers and Other Hardware then choose Printers and Faxes. You can then set as default hp Officejet 5500 series fax. Hope these suggestions help.

Which way does the paper go into the feed when faxing?

Load the originals, with the print side up, into the document feeder tray. If you are sending a single-page fax, such as a photograph, you can also load the original on the glass. If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
