Question about Garmin Nuvi 660 GPS Receiver

1 Answer

Garmin Nuvi always behind

I have used Garmin Nuvi 650,660&680... All are always behind by 500feet. You wil go past a intersection and the Garmin will tell you to turn the problem isthat its too late, your past the intersection...

I called customer service and they told me to update my software. I did that while I was on the phone with them. I sent the 680 in and they sent me another one. It too was off. My neighbor took me to a dr office 50 miles away and I gave him the address and he put it in his older Garmin and it was off by even bigger distance. My customer service person told me that there was nothing she could do. She even got mad at me and got very rude as if she had been answering the same questions all day. Is there any solution that you guys know of? Please help me and all other Garmin users that spent anywhere from $500-1000 per unit.

thanks for your response. I turned on the WAAS. I went out and bought a Garmin external antenna made for that unit. I have travel at different speeds as I thought that maybe the GPS was not refreshing quick enough.I also hooked up the unit to my computer and updated the software thru the Garmin wedsite. I bought a Magellan 6000T for my wife and that unit is right on the money. Im using it in the same car that the Garmin was in and it worked perfect.
the only difference was that the Garmin cost me.$750 and the Magellan 6000T was only $165. The magellan doesn't have all of the bells and whistles as with the Garmin but both units have the basics.

Thanks for your time folks, Bud, Peoria, IL

I have the same problem with my Garmin nuvi 760. I go beyond the intersection because of slow directions and then it tells me it is recalculating. On some interstates it might be many miles before I can make a u-turn as directed. Also have a problem with the speech. Sometimes it garbles or has a slight hesitation. I also have a 330 that downloads maps and shows interestions and directions much faster.

I looked for WAAS in the instructions for my 760 nuvi but didn't find it. How do I enable it?

Is WAAS enabled? If not then turn it on. This will give you better accuracy. You could also try using an external antenna if something inside the car or the windshield is causing interference with the GPS signal.

How fast are you traveling when approaching the turn?

My garmin nuvi 205 won't turn on

Whenever these devices start acting up, such as not turning on or not loading past the Garmin welcome screen, I recommend performing a hard reset of your Gamin Nuvi 205. Also, use Garmin's WebUpdater service to make sure you have the latest software on your device.

I hope that helps.
