Compaq Presario AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core TL-56

I have 2 of these models that I just bought and also got 2 gig sticks to put into them.Tried different configurations and got the same result every time. After I put them in, the computers would continually shut off. The power light would come on and then after a few seconds, would shut back off and try to start again.I tried the sticks in 2 other compaqs with the same results. The RAM was made by Buffalo.

What is the best processor to get for upgrade?

Here is the Fastest processor that will physically fit Turion 64 X2 TL-68, but this will use more power and generate a lot more heat. The best I would advise is the Turion 64 X2 TL-60 This draws the same power and will increase the speed to 2Ghz on 2 cores. So the extra heat produced should be minimal and your battery life should be very similar.

Hp dv6408nr laptop beeps four times when I turn it on then nothing happens.

4 beeps usually means a system time failure which means the main timer on your motherboard isn't working. it's not something that can usually be repaired and you probably need a new motherboard

Runs very slow, can memory be added?

More memory can always help. How much Ram is installed currently?
Also, do you run any anti virus or anti spyware programs? Malware has been known for making machines crawl.
Ram on that laptop can be upgraded.
