The only place to get that screen is through a Furuno authorized dealer. The unit is sealed and gas filled to remain waterproof. You're best bet would be to send the unit in to Furuno for repair. You wont save much doing it yourself because the cost of the screen makes up most of the cost of the repair. They will also make sure that all the software is up to date for the new WAAS satellites that recently went on line.
Have you tried adjusting the contrast? On that model I believe you tap the power key while the unit is on and you will see 2 sliding scales on the screen, one for brightness and one for contrast. Up or down arrows select the scale and left or right arrows adjust it. If the contrast and brightmness aren't tied into the power key on that model, they're somewhere in the set up menu.
If adjusting the contrast doesn't help then the screen has most likely failed. This is commonly caused by old age, however repeated exposure to extreme heat or cold can cause premature failure.
Furuno do not offer repairs for these units. The LCD module is flow soldered directly to the PCB with about 40 tiny wires. Furuno say that the cost of repair outweighs the cost of a new unit...

You need to determine if it's moisture or damage to the protective coating on the LCD glass. If the screen coating is damaged it will have patches or discoloration that resemble water spots like you see on windows and glasses exposed to hard water. If it's moisture between the glass and LCD you should be able to make out the tiny water droplets that are evenly spread throughout the screen. The only proper fix for a glass with damage to the protective coating is replacement of the bezel assembly. If it's moisture you can try inserting a few silica gel packs inside the unit. Don't try to disassemble the bezel (LCD/Screen) assembly. Just but the gel packs inside the 1650 chassis and give it a day or two. Otherwise, you're looking at factory repaire.
yes the cable should be replaced
if you are lucky, the unit is still OK (display)
Try the new cable, draped across the boat before rigging. If fault exists with new cable, replace system, or find a new display on ebay
You could try SeaClear It's free and runs not only on Windows systems but also on Linux with Wine. If you want to upload routes and waypoints then you can use this software from Furuno.
