I installed my Photo Explosian Deluxe version 3 on a new laptop we purchased that has Windows 7. The program will not launch - says not reponding when look at task manager.

I found some freeware that detected and restored my files.

I have a new computer with 'Windows 7' installed. I would like to run 'Print Shop Deluxe 22' Is there a patch to make the program work? I need a simple fix. Hope someone can help me. Cheers.
You can use the Windows Vista Compatibility patch which works equally with Windows 7.

You can download it here.


When the download is complete, close the Download window. Locate and double-click the Broderbund_Print_Update.exe file that was downloaded to begin installing the update. Then follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.

After the patch being installed, you can launch and use The PrintShop® 22.

Welcome to Fixya. Have you tried running the software in Compatibility Mode? Depending on your version of Windows 7, you may have the ability to run it in Compatibility Mode. Try right-clicking on the Photo Explosion shortcut that is on your Desktop. Then, go to Properties from the pop-up menu. Then, select the Compatibility tab. On that tab, put a check next to "Run the program in compatibility mode for:". Then, select Windows XP SP2. Click on the OK button to save this setting. Finally, try launching the program again.

Hi!
What I understand is that your photo explosion deluxe is a windows xp software. Since it is not working readily out of the box in windows 7 then what you could do is install windows xp mode for windows 7. Windows xp mode allows xp software to be installed and windows 7. What you need to do is just download windows xp mode and install it. After which you could then install that software on there. Just make sure to uninstall your current installation of photo explosion deluxe before you do this.

I'm Richard from SoftCity Cafe, the new home of Photo Explosion's tech support. I spoke with the tech support reps about PE 3 and its compatability with Windows 7. Unfortunately, only some aspects of the program work in Windows 7 and the recommended solution is to upgrade to version 4. I can tell you that there has been a request of the PE development team to release a patch for Windows 7 compatability, and if this is something you are interested in I would recommend leaving a message in this thread on SoftCity:

MPEG VIO Driver Error photo explosion special edition 3.0
How to correct a Load MPEG VIO Driver Error in Windows Vista.

If you are experiencing this issue with Windows Vista, please follow these directions:

Note: These steps are only for Windows Vista. If you are experiencing the problem on Windows XP, please see the directions found here: KB Article 1469

1. Uninstall Photo Explosion 3.0.
2. Reinstall Photo Explosion 3.0.
3. Restart the computer.
4. Download the Vista update for Photo Explosion 3.0 from the following link:

http://www.novadevelopment.com/Support/Updates.aspx

Note: Please make sure you download the correct one for your version of Photo Explosion 3.0. If you have the Deluxe version, download the Deluxe update. If you have the regular version, download the non-Deluxe update.
5. Save the update to an easily accessible location, such as your Desktop.
6. Once downloaded, go to where the update was saved and double-click the update.
7. After installing the update, you should no longer experience this problem.

Note: It is extremely important that you do not run Photo Explosion until you have restarted the computer and installed the update. If you run the program before installing the update, you will need to start the steps over from the beginning.
