Constantly flashes printing document biut no document printing

You need to go the printer properties by right clicking on the printer.
You will find preferences tab.
and over there you will services.
You can go ahead and accordingly select the appropiate option.

I had this problem too, for my situation, solution was:
default paper size must be A4, but that was Letter!

if light is constantly flashing, printer is not print.
printer on and all papers out in printer and light is always on than paper in and print.

Powerful cleaning is: Press menu, then start black copy, then four times arrow-up quickly after another.Machine will be in maintenance mode (all lights will flash).
press 7-6-4 and OK (or start-black-copy).
When finished press 7-6-3 then start black copy,
printer will do a power purge.
Leave maintenance mode by pressing 9-9.
If this not help better think about new printer, because cost of repairing this one is profitable.

As far as i know it will not work for color print unless all the cartridges are full. It will still print in b&w- go to properties of your printing document and change to "greystyle" but this will only work if you don't/have not turned off the machine at the power point. Once the machine is reset it wants to confirm all new cartridges and wont allow a black print until they are all in and full. So you cant use cartridges that have run out to "trick it".
I'm not sure if this is the intent of brother ( my guess is yes) a design oversight or a genuine precaution measure for consistency by not letting the printing heads dry out.
The yellow always runs out first, so stock up on them if you do alot of color printing- but the cartridges only last for 6 months so don't go crazy.

Brother if your reading this- Most of us don't care about color~! We just need a printer for uni and information. Make it work on our price range please!

No the ink is not to low you could try removing the ink cartridges and using a soft cloth wipe clean the little gold contacts on the cartridge and also the printer. Is the ink cartridge a original one if not even though the HP software states that there is 20% in there the likely thing is that the cartridge is empty replace and this should be OK.


I hope the first suggestion works for you as will not cost any money.
