Protron 26 inch lcd.....turn on, picture flashes on for a second or two then screen goes black...audio still functions ok...tried unplugging to reset...doesn't work....any thoughts

The inverter needs replacement. You should be able to get one from www.tvrepairworld.com

May be just a bad solder joint (dry joint) which breaks connection after 2 minutes as it gets warm. You can buy freezer spray which you spray on to
suspected fault and as it lowers the temperature the joint reconnects temporarily and the fault goes away until it's warm again. The thing is to find the fault and resolder.

Those capacitors have to be changed, I would also look on the inverter board for bad caps, change these and you should be good to go.

The tv have a long board call the LCD inverter board.This long LCD inverter board is dead.This long LCD inverter board job is to help the LCD screen panel to have a backlight to produced a picture.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a long LCD inverter board for the replacement.

The backlight inverter board may be going bad, or bad power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to.

Same thing happened to me. I turned TV off. Then turned it back on holding down both On button & Source button & got the picture back. Doesn't fix it for good. But when it happens, I "fix" it the same way. Happened twice in last three weeks, I'd say. Better than junking it for now.

Symptoms of a Defective or dying Power supplies on LCD TVs.
1. Light(s) on the front panel are behaving not normal example, blinking, amber color or
not steady, fainting, etc.
2. TV not turning ON properly.
3. TV turns OFF by itself.
4. Needs to be unplug to many times to make it work.
5. Humming or high pitch noise heard through speakers or at the back of the TV.
