G1 with water damage that has affected only the speakerphone

My g1 has had a little water damage that has only affected the speakerphone. It will either produce medium volume, full volume,or no volume given the day...since it sometimes will work perfectly I don't believe the speaker is completely ruined but I just need it to work all the time...

Did you tried to get the phone checked from the service center?
As the water might have got into the mobile motherboard and after that you have charged so it might have burnt some diodes.
Please do contact the nearest authorised service center.

There is no way to bypass the touchscreen step of the setup process. I repair phones, including the T-Mobile G1. I can replace the screen for you if you would like for $60. Please email me at [email protected] for more information.

I spilled sprite on my g1!!

I dropped my motorola sliver in the bathtub full of water and it quit working totally. I called ATT where I got the phone and they told me to look under the battery. I lifted out the battery and they asked me if there was a white dot under it. I told them no but there was a red one. They said "gone". Meaning that the dot was usually white but if it turns red, the circuits are water/liquid damaged and to throw it away and get another phone. Look under your battery.

G1 water damage.

your phone would need to be completely taken apart and put into a liquid to stop the corrosion and then dried and reassembled. usually you can save the motherboard and other minor parts. but the lcd and digitizer you may run into issues with and in some cases they would need to be replaced totally.
