I have been building custom enclosures since 1984. First of all I would need to know exactly what type of vehicle you were trying to install the enclosure into. You will need 8-10 cubic feet for this totally closure. I'm not too sure if you have enough room for this if it's going sometimes of small s_u_v you definitely have the room. I would use a 4 inch by pennington lane ports 1 in eating closure but you might even think about making to sebring closures and bringing them together because you're going to have a lot to flexing with that money into of what first. There again I need to know how much power you're driving to them as well and in what type of configuration you'll be connecting them. Good luck and hit me back up with any questions I will be glad to help thank you.
A thumbs up would be greatly appreciated if answer is helpful for your question. THANK you and GOD BLESS

What r u trying to do ?shake the car apart?Only kidding that a good questin 4 15: woofers in 1 enclosure>?what kind of enclosure ?how much space r we working with ? i use to be a installer , i also built costume boxes.I need to knoew how much space u have is it a car van,pick-up?I think an iso baric enclosure woukld be your best bet, it would take up the laest space. What frequency are you going to be runnig to your subs? what do you want? punchy bass, over the big tom drops?
what amp r you running or should i say amps?
you'll get the highest spl in a sealed enclosure, but i dont think thats what your looking want heavy vibrating soud,am i correct? a band pass box will give that to you in a close space.bass sounds better and louder the further away you get../.give me more info then ill give you a layout.but 4 now this might help or solve your problem
they have all the wiring and p[hyschics and designs of boxes. rating please.

you need to design a box with 8-10cubic feet for a ported enclosure i would put 4 4"dia. by 10"lenght ports.Use mdf board.also reinforce the box.i would suggest building 2 seperate boxes then attach them togetherwith all that force in 1 box you might get a ding sound from the flexing of the wood.face the woofers to the rear ports could be up or rear also..being your in the same area of the spl i would recommend a band pass to 2 15" bandpass boxes .you want the bass .band pass boxes sound s the best in vans and suv,s.for trunks its sealed and hatches i go with band or vented.

I have an old lanzar 10 inch subwoofer that is open airs series and need to know the required airspace for best performance

For optimal performance there is really only one size for the box .Firstly, you get two different types of subwoofers, an open air, or closed air sub. If it is an open air sub ( hole with mesh in the center of the magnet) no ports are required, and the box should be sealed on the inside with silicone sealant. If it is a closed air sub ( no hole in the magnet) you need a 50mm port about 120mm long. Box size will be 11 inches x 11 inches x 11 inches. Hope this helps

Will it get so loud my car falls apart eventually

The car falling apart is a NO. But if you want a lot of Boomy Bass, then make sure to make a ported box for your sub woofer and give it the power it needs. If i knew the exact model i would tell you the size of box and amount of power you would need to amplify it. dreamsystems

What air space for a sealed box should i use for my lanzar max10d subwoofers

a sealed box is designed to handle more power with a smaller box. to get max efficiancy or spl bass it is recommended to go with a ported or vented box but your speaker can't handle as much sometimes 200-300 watts less but bigger bass. so, sealed box is 0.85cu.ft-1.25cu.ft and vented or ported is 1.25cu.ft-1.75cu.ft.

What is the best enclosure volume for 15" Juggernaut 2000watts rms car subwoofer. i want to know the dimension of the box along with ports size.

Subwoofers differ in only one way. You get an "Open Air" and a "Closed air" subwoofer, That being said, you'll have to check on your magnet which one you have to make the boxes for that sub. If it is an "Open air" Subwoofer, you should see a "wire mesh" or "grid" in the centre, at the back of the magnet. If it is a "Closed air", the magnet will be solid with no hole whatsoever.

If it is a "Open air" sub, your boxes should be sealed with silicone, and no ports are to be cut in your box.

With "Closed air" subs, you should have 2 ports below your sub and the port sizes should be around 50mm in diameter. You should start with a 100mm long piece in the one box and add 50mm increments to "tune" the port up to 250mm, depending on the frequency of bass you require.

On a 15 inch subwoofer ranging between 80Hz and 120Hz, the box size required should be around 27 liters, meaning that you will end up with a box of 16 inches high, x 16 inches wide, x 16 inches deep. Or 320mm high, x 320mm wide, x 320mm deep.

Which is the size of the box just for one PSW912 to mount

I used to compete with these subs, and found that for street beat 2.7 cu ft ported tuned at 38 hz was the best for this sub.

If using for max SPL your tuning will be much higher, like around 55 hz. But that all depends on the vehicle.

that mainly depends on the type of music you will be listening to. If you need clean, punchy bass, use a sealed box. For more growl, and louder bass, use a tube ported or slot ported box. I would not recommend a bandpass box for 15"s but they do make them. I have 2 kenwood 12"s in seperate slot ported boxes with a SPL 1500 watt amp, making about 149Db in a 93 Eclipse. Let me know if this helps :)

High x-max vs. high sensitivity

Sensitivity is a representation of efficiency. The higher the efficiency, the better the sound quality.
Xmax is a measure of the "throw of the cone peak to peak. This is a direct representation of the volume of air the subwoofer will displace..
A High X.Max subwoofer will displace more air - and therefore produce more SPL in a vented enclosure.
Sensitivity on these subs aren't crucial, because the customer is looking for LOUD and will purchase a large class D Mono amplifier to power it - characteristically low in sensitivity as well due to the way the power is inverted. Highly efficient, yet low sensitiviy.
I am definately a basshead! My show car has (4) 15" Cerwin Vega Stroker PROs. (one of the most highly EFFICIENT high xmax subs available) (86dB). (36-44mm Xmax (adjustable for SQ or SPL)
ea141e4.jpg If you are looking for SPL, High XMax, Low sensitivity, and lots of power is the way to go. Generally, to increas SPL by 3dB, yuo must either increase surface area of driver 2x or double the input power. Slot ports, aeroports, and loaded horn ports can also increase your dB level by up to 3dB as well.
Properly constructed enclosures have an effect as well. Instead of wasting some of your power on vibrating the enclosure, it should be braced properly to reduce the wasted energy.
All of these tips will add tou your satisfaction of the product. You can make a $100 sub sound phenomenal in a proper enclosure, and a $400 sub sound like $hit in a prefab or poorly constructed one.

Your original question - with all things equal except the subwoofer, the subwoofer with the higher Xmax should yield the most SPL - due only to the fact of air displacement.

If you have additional questions or need clarification dont hesitate to ask.

What size enclosure (sealed)for Alpine 12"1242D(METAL Music)

  • 12" subwoofer with dual 4-ohm voice coils
  • Kevlar reinforced pulp cone with Santoprene™ rubber surround
  • cast aluminum frame with perimeter venting
  • frequency response: 25-500 Hz
  • power handling: 200-500 watts RMS (250 watts per coil)
  • peak power: 1,500 watts
  • sensitivity: 85 dB
  • top-mount depth: 7-5/8"
  • sealed box volume: 0.57-1.0 cu. ft.
  • ported box volume: 0.75-2.0 cu. ft.

  • For rock, i actually have 2 seperate 12's in slot port boxes i built facing forward. Facing forward reduces a little resonance and spl, but keeps alot of that annoying rattle off your tag lol

    Hope this helps :)
