Is the camera software loaded on the computer. When the camera is connected to the computer and is turned on it the computer should automatically give you options as to what you want to do.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa.

SOURCE: how to download photos from vivicam 4100

Hookup the camera using the supplied USB cable. Turn on the Camera. And wait!!! Sometimes the VISTA PC will recognize the camera in a minute or two, sometimes longer. Turning the camera on and off will cause an icon to appear in the 'Computer' window momentarily, but it usually disappears!

I have taken many, many pics with my trusty 4100 and have been able to transfer ALL of them by exercising extreme patience.

Just keep checking the Computer window for the USB icon.

Good Luck,

Don

I have not got the Disc to download the software for my Vivitar 5385...any ideas..

Hello Tea22me,
The Driver to will depend on your Operating system.
For XP and above, you should not need any drivers for the camera. If you are still on windows 98, then please download the Mass Storage Device drivers from the following link:
http://www.opendrivers.com/driver/235333/vivitar-vivicam-5385-mass-storage-device-driver-windows-98-free-download.html

Please let me know if this works for you.

Srinivas

Vivicam 5388

If your camera connects with a USB cable you should be able to download the USB driver from Vivitar's web site. Once the correct USB driver is installed Windows (2000, XP, or Vista) should see the camera as a removable storage device when you connect the USB cable to your laptop. Then use Windows explorer to copy the photos from the camera (removable storage) to your hard drive.
