That ribbon cable is a tedious repair, and the best you can hope for is that you are a fairly good tech yourself, or to send it off for repair...accordianman

I have a Samsung L200 portable dvd player and the screen is always white. It will play cds but will not go onto the bule screen needed to load dvd's. What can i do?

Probably the lcd screen cable inside the player is faulty, you will need to open the player and check it, or to bring it to a service centre.

If the item is under warranty return it asp. The problem is in the power supply, the cause is a open capacitor sometimes leaving a bulge at the top.

I have a Tru tech portable dvd player model no. 12701C, and i cant get the lid to close or the dvd player to read the disk i believe because it turns on and just says "Open" on the screen...the dvd inside...

Unfortunately, if the lid will not close properly, there is nothing you can do to fix that. Furthermore, if while holding the lid down the unit still shows "open" on the screen, the unit definitely needs to be repaired or exchanged. If you're in warranty, contact the manufacturer or the extended warranty company for the procedure you'll need to follow.

If you feel this solution doesn't deserve a good rating, please let me know why so that I may better assist you. If there is anything more I can do to help, I will!

RCA DRC620N portable dvd

Inside your dvd player there is a flat flexible cable running from the dvd player to the lcd screen. I opened mine up, and saw that the opening and closing of the lcd screen has caused this cable to pinch. I didn't check for continuity of each little wire in the cable (there's about 20 of them), but I suspect that this is where the problem is. In a design where we are forced to flex and bend this cable each time we open up the dvd player, I guess we shouldn't be surprised that the cable eventually gives out. Maybe replacing the cable would work, but I just use mine as a DVD player in my kids room now, and send the output to the TV.

My ferguson ldvd81 it shows loading disc but that is all does not play anything

The reason the player will not play a disc is probably because the disc is not spinning. You need to power up the player and leave the dvd door open. Then push in the little switch that is normally operated by the dvd door but make sure you do not look directly at the laser. You should see the logo on the screen saying loading but the turntable is probably not turning. If this is the case, then the most likely cause is that the motor control chip inside the dvd is blown. This seems to be quite a common feature of these type of players.

Sharp 2002

If you are using an analogue signal then check things like DECT phones, Wifi / DSL modems, power cables, power convertors / UPS, washing machines, dryers, microwaves etc are kept as far away from the cables as possible.
Have you bought anything new recently, when it happens think what things are turned on... is it the garage door being opened etc.
If you are using a digital signal (and ideally something like a DVD player or a games console rather than a cable TV box) then check the HDMI cable.  If all appears well then it could well be a fault with the television, especially if you get interference from multiple source (i.e. cable TV, DVD player, console etc)

CyberHome CH-LDV 700B Portable DVD Player

you've probably over extended the the flat wirecable that powers the screen inside the dvd player by opening the screen too far. Open the dvd player as if putting in a dvd, now look in the right hand upper corner and you'll see a white flat wire, this wire is probably your problem. open the dvd player and look at the connection, the wire should be crooked, push the wire into the connection securely and the screen should come on. check it out!! DVD player froze, now only turns off

Sounds like the power supply in the dvd player has failed. It works just well enough to turn on the led infront but as soon as you go to do anything it shuts off. This is common in cheaper dvd players. Unless you can troubleshoot electronics. Or know someone that can. Your best bet is to unplug the unit and disassemly and retrieve your dvd.
