VS-60111 turns off on its own after few hours

I have a problem with my VS-60111 TV. When I got the TV it was working fine until a few days later it turned off on its own. In the morning I turned on the TV it was good until 2 hours later, it turned off. I turn it back on and shuts off right after. I keep turning it on for 5 times, it stayed on for 5 minutes. So I waited 10 minutes. It will stay on for 10 minutes and shuts off. I've asked my friend and he told me to re-solder the convergence IC, so I did that and took off 2 leeds by accident. TV still works, but now it has no sound and the picture stays on for 1 hour. Could it be the convergence IC? I've checked all the solders on every board and found 2 cold solder joints on STK392-110 convergence output and that it. Could anybody help me on this matter.

The 2 leads on the convergence genertaor I haven't fix yet. I have the service manual and am looking through it, but haven't had some time to really check it. I really do need some guidance since this is my first time trying to fix a TV. Thank you Slinteriors for your time and help. If you have other suggestions, please let me know.

I forgot to mention before I did any resoldering that it turned off when there is a video signal to the TV. I was using the coax cable and then switched it to RCA from my digital box. When the TV turned off, I turned it back on and unplugged the video feed and left the sound. I had sound and you could see a black screen with a little white in the background. The TV didn't turn off. I waited for the first 10 minutes, didn't turn off. Then I've waited a little longer, one hour, and it still didn't turn off. Just wanted to add that in since I just remembered.

Okay here's an update of what I've done. I have replaced the resistor that the gecko got killed on. While trying to desolder the resistor, it broke in half. I've got the service manual and replaced it. Now the TV turns on for a second and turns off. While pressing the power on button to turn it on, I see a red screen and then turns off. I can't tell if I have any sound yet because it turns off too fast. I'm going to try and see on the power supply what else could be wrong with it. Any other suggestions will be helpful.

Update...I don't know if I made it clear enough. After replacing the resistor, I've turned the TV on with out any cable hooked up and it turned off a second later. I kept on turning it on right after it shuts off a few times and the screen will turn red. From what my friend told me that it is something in the power supply. He told me to check the capacitors, but I'm not too sure what to start from on the power supply. I have an analog multimeter, but am confuse on how to check the capacitor if it is leaky or open. I have tried one capacitor, discharging it and then hook the leads onto the capacitor + lead to + & - lead to -, needle goes up then all the way down, discharge again, + lead to - & - lead to +, needle goes up and not all the way down stays between 40 & 50 ohms.

Another update. I have a 21 code X-Ray Protect. What do I need to check in this area?

I was wondering how do I unplugg the red CRT circuit board? I have replaced IC5A02 and it did the same thing. I can't find any part for IC5A00 MSPAD401. Any guidance in what to check besides the capacitors and diodes in the X-Ray Protect section?

Sorry haven't got back on for a while. Here's an update on the TV. I've replaced all the electrolytic capacitors on the power board. Now the TV won't turn on. It has a error code of 22. I hear 2 clicking sound in the rear, but nothing. I don't even see the neck glowing. Any suggestions?

I have the Mitsubishi VS-60111. When you attempt to turn it on, the green LCD light comes on, you can hear the audible click it makes when turning on, then after about a second or two, it shuts off, no picture, sound - nadda - The only thing I have tried is plugging into another (known to be good) wall socket.

    Any suggestions ?!?

Final update, this TV went to the nearest dump center. Thank you for all your help.

Thank you for your kindness in addressing possible problems. Your time and thoughts do not go unoticed. However this being said, I have to agree with the last smart *** coment. And I hate to admit it, but I sank the 350 monster in a private pond (even got a nice little swim when the boat flipped) picked up a couple of bass the capacator sent my way, and purchased a 65 inch TV for $1,299. Unfortunately, in these times of better, faster, cheaper, I agreed with the apprentice with a o rating (now 1) Thanks guys -

I would say throw it away and get a new TV, they are cheap these days. Plus, everything is going digital next year, so it's time for a change.

Did you repair the two leads? Ao check near the Convergence ICs for an open resistor or two, although that shouldn't effect your audio. Yu most likely have a low voltage regulator or bad capacitor. You will probably need the service manual to actually track it down. I will post a link where you can ge one for 12.99 and the include free unlimited support. They will also email it instantly to you if you return to the site and send them an email requesting they email it to you. You sound like you could fx it with the service manual and some guidance. Here is the link.

Repair those leads and check the resistors for being open. Then let me know what you get. Then we can go from there.

Have to hit the on button several times before it turns on. each day it takes a few more times before it comes on. works fine once it is on.

tried to check the power on button with a analog tester weather the resistance doesn't have good contact. otherwise you must replace it.

Vs 60111 Fuzzy picture

Its a very old set and if happens on all inputs and cables have been ruled out something serious--the rear inputs bypass the tuner in the set and based on its age I would not suggest spending major money (if you can find someone willing to work on a set of this age) on this set.

Many parts for this are no longer available.

My Mitsubishi TV turns on and then turns off, works for few hours, sometimes for several hours and then tuns on and off

I had the same problem with a similar tv.

the problem with mine was that one of the input components would over heat and cause it to shut off. also in your case it could be the projectors over heating or even the bulbs are starting to burn out.

i hope this helps you good luck.
