CDW niether reads ,plays burn or writes CD's DVD works great does not hve burner

My dvd drive is not a burner. It is working plays DVDs good but my CD does not do anything i been told by hp that there are two lasers in product one for CD and one foDVD and my laser for CD is probaly burned out

    i have tried many of remedies suggested through hp troubleshooters expert tech chat line none worked he suggested the burned out laser . i would like to find another used, refurbished or ifit is cheap a new Samsung TS-H492A/RSWN so I could easily install since all drivers and programs are already set up.

If the laser stops working then the only solution is replacment or repair oderwise there is no remedy available!!

My drive can not read dvd
Yes lasers that read dvds work on a slightly different frequency so as laser wears over time, especially when burning instead of just reading it effects the ability to read and or write to DVD media and it is why reading and even writing to cds can still be done but not so with dvds. Might be time to replace it.

A CD-RW DVD will only play a dvd and write CD's

Can a CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive burn dvds? i downloaded software to burn dvds but it says the e drive is busy?? realplayer dvd burning sotware.
No it only has a CD read write and a DVD Rom player READ ONLY.

Dvd burner not detected
Sorry, but that model is not a DVD writer. It can only write and rewrite CD's. It can only read DVD's.

Note under DVD>Write DVD it says N/A. (Not applicable.)

CD-RW drives can only read all CD-rom and CD-RW formats and read DVD formats but cannot write to a DVD, if you want to write a DVDs you need to buy a DVD-RW burner which can burn all CD-formats

I have problem with my AVERATEC COmputer
This is a common issue with NEC DVD burners, assuming that your NEC DVD burner cannot read and write DVDs anymore. I had a similar issue with my NEC DVD burner, which couldn't read and write CDs, but DVDs successfully. This is usually due to wear and tear of constant usage of the drive itself and sometimes mechanisms inside the DVD burner cease to work. While Windows Troubleshooting, uninstalling and re-installing the drive are suggestable, I am afraid the only option is a complete DVD burner replacement.

My dvdrom drive wont let me access the drive
ITs a dvd rom drive. It will not burn blank dvds
in order to burn, it has to cd-r/cd-rw/dvd-r/dvd-rw. If a drive cannot write to a blank disc, it will eject it. Rom drives read only (Read Only Memory), Combo drives- burn cd's only read dvd's, and super drives both read and write to cds and dvds.
