Broken plasma tv screen.....nec model

The screen is broken can it be repaired ? ......john in philly

I have a Viewsonic VPW-425 Plasma. It was somehow damaged in my recent move. The glass screen has a hairline crack on the inside (it is smooth on the outside, so only guessing the crack is internal). Unit will power up but no typical blue screen (when no input source).

Is it a 100 lb paperweight or can something be done???

Guess what the child with the Wii did? Right. Can the glass be replaced? It's a Pioneer Elite 50"...what was I thinking setting games up on that TV? Oh well, I'm sure this is not the first time. Any help out there?

How much would it cot to replace the outer glass screen please

The plasma usually has 2 sheets of glass, the outer one sounds ok which is not good news as these can be replaced.
The inner panel is the actual plasma layer and if it is craked or broken it usually requires a swapout for a new panel.

Viewsonic 425 shuts itself off.

im not too familiar with viewsonic but it sounds like an ovrheating issue. i would monitor th power supply and the y sustain board. they seem to be the most common failures in plasma tvs. if you can tell me the panel model number inside the tv i may be able to assist you further...

Cracked plasma screen

A plasma display is a very expensive part to replace. When the plasma display is broken, the tv is usually not worth repair.

Call Nec at the number listed on the owner manual, and ask a quote on part or repair.

Cracked 42" NEC Plasma,

The display panel is the majority of the cost of a plasma set, and the cost of installing a new panel makes repair uneconomical. If this set is being used in a commercial environment, maybe you have some kind of insurance that might cover replacement.

Have parts for Viewsonic VPW-425 42"

If these are used parts or from a scrapped set, buying used parts would be a very risky investment.
