Funai tv we were watching tv for the last couple of nights and at the top of the screen it started getting fuzzy and color was bad. Tonight while we were watching the tv all of a sudden it made a popping sound and went off. We turned it back on and the picture was very dim and fuzzy. It is about a 1 and half years old. What do we do.

    WE WERE GIVEN A FUNAI TV 42 INCH NOTICE THAT WHEN YOU TURN ON TH T.V. PLASMA TV WE GET A 2 INCHE SEE THROUGH BLACK LINE. UNTIL IT DECIDES TO DISAPPEAR GO CLEAR AND THEN YOU EVENTUALLY GREEN SPECS. AISO I NEED A MANUAL FIR OUR 42 INCHE T,V

    Was away from tv and heard a pop like a light bulb going out, and then glass falling. Opened back 2 panels and found no glass. Tv repairman came and by just looking at the picture said it was the power supply board. Is this something I can pop out and back in myself, And is this for sure my problem as I don't have lots of money for the repairman to be playing guessing games with my checkbook.

The blue light where you turn the tv on, turn green for a second then turn blue. but the tv won't come on.

Open the back cover and check any fuse blow in Y Sustain board or Z Sustain board. If you do find the fuse gone, replace the board. Good luck!

Not really a solution, sorry, but I've got the very same problem. I haven't noticed the time before tv faults, but nontheless, it greenscreens or like in your case, redscreens as well. I've been told to open the back, which I did to check the status of the capicitors, which I've done. But, the capacitors "seem" fine. No bulging or popped tops. So, I'm at a stand still...not sure what to do at this point. If someone gives you solution, I sure would appreciate your forwarding it on to me. Thanks. Robert

We had no control of the DVD that we watched last night. No pause, fast forward, etc. Tonight, trying to watch another DVD and the one from last night continues to be playing and will not eject. Neith
Sometimes when you unplug the set ffrom the wall power or a while 1-2 minutes, and then plug it back in the problem will resolve itself. The DVD may eject. If it does, check it for damage, warping or dirt. If this does not fix it- you probably should take it to a repair center.

TRY UNPLUGING SET FROM THE WALL FOR ABOUT 2 MINUTES PLUG BACK IN AND TRY THE SET. IF SET DOES NOT COME ON TAKE IT TO A QUALFIED SERVICER.

Black screen after 1-2 minutes.
Hi, I just fixed one I bought on eBay with the same problem. My problem was caused by the screen backlight inverter. Fortunately I had one from another TV I bought last year on eBay. The repair only took about 15 minutes. Your best bet is to contact Funai Corp. and really complain even if it is out of warranty. They make Emerson, Funai, Symphonic and Sylvania and all the parts inside are the same (from the same years). If that don't work look on eBay for one with a broken screen or some other damage, call your local dealer and see if they have the inverter from a broken TV or ask around. We have a freecycle group in Michigan that recycles things rather than throw them in landfills you may have one in your state too !

Top of the screen Picture Problem
sound like you have 1 or a couple of leaky/bad capacitors in the tv's vertical circuit, typically, there sould be 5 to 10 caps. in all, but you just need 1 bad one to cause your problem. good luck.

Bad color when watching cable ok thru dvd player
If the power spike came in through the cable, I would suspect something in the tuning circuits -- unless you have the set connected to a cable box, in which case I would try the box on another TV first. If the problem is in the TV which was made by Symphonic-Funai by the way, I would check with my homeowners insurance if you can file a claim before I spent any money on it.
