Check the mounting and cable connection of the transducer on the stern. If loose will tilt during movement, in reverse wakes from the prop. CAREFULLY check unit during these conditions. The transducer needs to be completely submerged. Good Luck.

So the depth is flashing and you don't see any bottom return at all, right?
Are you in the water, or trying it out before you put the boat in the water? If you are not in the water, try it out in the water because it can be difficult to get any kind of return out of the water.
Try resetting the X67c to factory defaults: 1. Turn unit off 2. Press and hold the down arrow key 3. Press PWR while still holding the down arrow key, the unit will enter production test mode. Let go of the down arrow key 4. Press EXIT 5 times 5. Press ENT and the unit will shut off
Turn it back on and if you still have the same problem, depth flashing 0.0 or 0.5 or 60 probably and no bottom, then a good bet would be a bad transducer.
If it is normal in deeper water, it is most likely just returning stuff in the water (debris, algae, anything floating around...choppy water can cause this). Try installing the latest updates from http://www.lowrance.com/en/Downloads/Product-Software-Updates/
If it doesn't help, adjusting the sensitivity or setting the SURFACE CLARITY option from the SONAR FEATURES menu to LOW, MEDIUM, or HIGH...whichever gives the best results.
Sounds like what is called a latency problem. You need to go into the settings in Sonar and under audio, adjust the Latency to a higher number...I don't know sonar home studio, or I would tell you the exact area to go in the menu's to adjust latency..Hope this helps!

Go to C:\Program Files\Aardvark\ Aarkthk.dll and remove this file. It is an old file from win98 that didn't get removed when installing on winXP. Restart computer and you're good to go.
Try a soft reset first, if that doesn't correct it try a hard reset. BE SURE and Save Data before th eHard Reset, it clears all waypoints and such.
