same problem but no software for the digital audio player, my step daughter got it as a christmas present and this error came up two weeks after she got it. I changed the batteries, toggled the hold button, could not find a reset button or power switch. I've searched all over the web and all questions with my same problem were unanswered. Please help.

Hi, I got this mp3 player for my birthday and I did exactly what the directions said to put music on the player, but when I took it off the labtop, there were no songs on the player, so I am curious as to how to keep the songs on there? I used limewire for the music, do I need to use something like itunes? If you could help me that would be great and thank you

When turned on, says "flash error" etc, but I got it to work by removing the files......if you only put one song on the player, more than one song causes the flash error message to come up. Also, computer does not recognize it as mp3 player, it recognizes it as a storage device. This happened after plugging it into a Vista system, had no problems with XP. I can put about 11 or 12 songs into the "voice" folder, but they do not play consecutively from that folder, you have to address them one at a time to play them.

Same problem, Trutech did not provide instructions for formatting the player to get it to work correctly again

Trutech MP3 player (SMP-1GBL) has flash error message and "please backup the data and format the player" when it is turned on. When plugged into the computer, music files are all intact, but can't get the player to get past the flash error message.

I added music to my player by clicking and dragging from itunes to the media player. I then had trouble disconnecting it because "windows can't stop your 'generic volume' device because it is in use" I closed everything and it still wouldn't let me safely remove it. When I opened Task manager, I found wmedia player in processes and deleted it. That solved that problem. but then when I unplugged the damn thing, it gave me the flash error message. WTF?

Our child received this MP3 for Christmas. He loaded 99 songs on the player last night. This morning 54 songs were on the player. This afternoon, all of the files were gone. When it was turned on, it said file error.

donotrepl469 exactly. After the reformat, it starts and says no music.

I had this same problem. If I tried to turn the player on, it just gave me the "format the player" screen. If I turned it off (by removing the battery if necessary) and plugged it into a USB port, it could still be read as a flash drive. I could copy the files to a backup folder on my computer and then (using Windows) I could right-click on the drive and choose Format. When it was finished, I disconnected it from the computer and turned the player back on and it was able to boot normally (it took a little while, but it worked). After rebooting, it automatically recreated the MUSIC.LIB, MUSIC.SEC, SETTINGS.DAT system files and the VOICE directory. I plugged it back into the USB port and copied the music back onto it and it worked fine. So... back up the data and format the player...

I have a trutech smp-1gbl and no drivers do you know where to get

Usually Windows Media Player 10 or above should be enough. For this model, there won't be any driver exclusively unless included with the player when shipped.

Won't Work suddenly.

What is happening when you turn the device on? Does it go on and then shut off? If so you will have to reformat the drive for the mp3 player. Simply plug the mp3 player in and click the drive that appears for the player. It should say this device needs to be formatted. Then just follow the steps. Keep in mind you will lost your songs. If the device stays on, do you see your first song on the list. If you do, try pushing the play button, (very last one on bottom) hard.
