Question about Dishwashers

Kitchenaid Dishwasher - LOUD

We purchased our dishwasher approximately 5 years and have been very happy with it. Except the past few weeks it seems to be getting louder and louder each time we run it. (I run the dishwasher approximately everyother day). It almost sounds like a grinding noise. It also appears to stop more often during the washing cycle.

Help! I can longer run the dishwasher at night because it so loud it keeps the childern up!

I have the same problem! Ours is three years old, and started making noise during the cycle and gets a little louder as it goes on. I'm so glad it is finished so I can hear again! It is a loud, grinding, and somewhat high pitched noise. The dishes seem to be getting clean - I've not noticed anything else different, except for the noise.

Our Kitchen Aid (Model KUDM01TJWH1) is having a noise issue after about 5 years. It was very quiet when we first got it. Now, it make a loud whining/laboring motor type of noise. Would like to know the cause and the remedy. Help, please!

I've had it for less than a year, it was quiet originally, but now it sounds like it is straining and high pitched.

almost grinding noise in 8 year old kitchenaid dishwaser, getting louder gradually, almost like a bearing noise .no water the racks wear and make noise as they spin and wear over time?

When we first purchased & installed our Kitchen Aid Dishwasher, Model #KUDP01ILWH1 5+ years ago, it was so quiet. During the past year, noise level has increased significantly and time to complete wash cyle has increased. It's been serviced and repaired five times. Now, motor makes loud grinding noise, a new problem.

Will this go away, as another writer suggests due to small glass breakage, or is there another solution? I don't want to damage the motor more by continuing to run the unit.

Ours is 3 years old and the motor has started making a loud buzzing sound when it is running. I can hear it coming from the bottom. It stops intermittently when the motor stops during the cycles. Not happy:(

I have the dishwasher 5 months and I started a grinding noise when it starts and when it washes approx 58 mins into a wash cycle. It lasts close to 20 mins. It sounds like the the floor is shaking. I will call for service in the morning. This is why I always take out an extended warranty.

Same here with the noise problem Kitchenaid

    Model KUD1o1flss6

Had broken glass. Removed base, removed the glass I could get to.

Machine still is unbearable to listen to I don't think its from the glass i think the pump motor is shot.

I've found that if a glass or a dish breaks little pieces get caught in the grinder that is built in with the motor in time it will go away.

Kitchenaid Whisper Quiet + dishwasher making loud humming noise

Very likely pump motor shaft seal leaks water into bearing casing buildup of rust and consequently noise. I just replaced $112 worth of pump assy and it's back to normal. I would also buy repair manual for $10 on-line to be sure how to disassemble the sump to get to the pump.

It sounds as if there is something in the bottom part of the dishwasher arm (it sprays the water around the bottom of the dishwasher). I would suggest that you take out the baskets and then remove and clean all of the parts that water comes out of as well as the bottom drain. If this works or does not, I would also suggest that you run an empty load using 1/4 cup vinegar. Hope this helps!

Loud Knocking/Ticking Sound During Cycle

have you lowered the top basket into the lower position? if so the spray arm will knock the cutlery /plates. it sounds as though it is a spray arm problem. remove them and put it in wash to see if the noise goes. if not there may be an obstruction in the wash pump, this is a stripdown job then.
