Question about Panasonic FP-7735 Black and White Copier

1 Answer

Panasonic FP-7735 won't recognize paper tray

I know - we need to get rid of this machine.

Main paper tray is not recognized by the machine. It is there, it has paper, and yet the machine does not see it.

Must have been the gremlins-the machine acts as of that tray is not even there (even in manual mode).

BUT - the instructiosn above must be for a slighty different machine:

No "Function" button on this one.

Original Size: there are 4 buttons (Ledger, Legal, Letter, & Invoice)

Sounds like this is what I need to do - get into the Function mode, but need a different key combination!

I was able to get into the function menu and make the change, but I can't get out of the function menu!! Even turning off the machine, waiting a few minutes, and turning it back on doesn't work.

I tried "User Preset + Orginal Size (ledger) +3" and that doesn't work. No individual key seems to work.

I had trouble getting out of Functtion mode - but finally found a key combination that worked.

Still no luck - I changed F5-14 from 1 to 4 and it still doesn't see it.

    F5-14=4 Letter-landscape orientation installed

    F5-15=1 Letter-regular orientation installed

    F5-16=0 Legal tray installed

    F5-17=0 (no tray installed)

    F5-18=0 (no tray installed)

Is it possible that F5-14 through 18 are the wrong place for the tray settings? I say that only because F4-14=4 didn't change anything AND because F5-16=0 is working fine with legal even though it appears the setting should be F5-16=2.

Also - now the copies all have dark blotchy areas all over. Not sure if I accidentally changed other setting(s) while I was trying to deal with the paper tray issue.

I got that figured out (finally) - see my additional comments above. The paper tray is still "invisible".

Can you hear the tray rise when you close it? Is there a red, blinking "out of paper" light on the control panel? Can you select the tray manually?

Or, you had a power outtage, or gremlins, and the settings reset itself, you can go in to service mode and set the trays up again.

Hold the following keys to fire up Function mode. "Function + Original Size + 3". Hit 5 for F5 mode. F5-14 is tray 1. If you have a duplex(ADU) unit installed, you'll want to check out tray 2. F5-14 is tray 1, F5-15 is tray 2 all the way down to F5-18.

Key in whichever number you need.
0: none (no tray installed)
1: Ledger
2: Legal
3: Letter
4: Letter-R (landscape)
5: Invoice

You want to use the "Original Size" top, left button (Ledger). I didn't mean function, I meant User Preset. It's Function on the newer ones.

So it's User Preset + Original Size (ledger) + 3

User Preset + Clear will get you out of service mode.

If that's the case, you'll need a tech to come out and look at it. Those machines can be erratic for no reason. And the nasty looking copies could be any number of things.

My fd 400 credit card machine not recognizing paper

you need to make sure the paper is thermal. you can test by scraping on the paper with your nail. if a black line appears that is the thermal side and it should face down in the paper loading tray. if the paper is new try another role and or turn it over, but it has to be credit card machine thermal and not calculator paper

Ricoh SP c222sf is not recognizing that there is paper in Tray 1 or bypass - tried to rest tray 1 and turn on/off, but the display still shows that there is no paper. What else can I try?

There is a paper detect sensor which sits in the frame of the machine above the paper tray. Pull the paper tray out and make sure this sensor didn't get broken or knocked out of place. (If you have a can of compressed air, shoot some into the sensor to get rid of possible paper dust.)

Trying to convert paper tray one to run 11 X 17 paper.

Almost every machine I know (except many of the very newest models), there is either a dial, or a clip, or a setting on the control panel that you need to set to instruct the machine of the paper size. I'm not too familiar with Toshiba, but have a good look at the cassette (tray) - often at the very rear, there is probably something to set.
Hope this helps.

ImageRunner 5570

hello John,
Glad to help. Your copier has 2 seperate sensing devices built into the machine that allows it to automatically recognize the paper size for trays 3 and 4. There is one unit consisting of 2 photo-interruptors that determine the length of of the settings of the paper tray, and a potentiometer that allows the copier to determine the width of the setting of the paper tray. The copier recognizes the paper tray settings automatically as you change them for trays 3 and 4. So there is really nothing required from you other than moving the side guides and the end guide to suite the paper size you wish to insert. The side guides are built into the paper tray and they move in tandem so when you squeeze the blue (I call it a clothes pin since it looks like one) release lever which allows you to change the paper width as you need. To the left of the tray there is a blue square block that is re-positioned as you choose to change paper sizes. This "end fence" should **** against the paper for support and there are markings at the base/bottom if the tray that indicate the proper postion it should be depending on the paper size you need to insert. I believe this pretty much covers it ! :-) Let me know if you need further help and have a great copying experience!!!!! LOL

Hi, More than likely it could be the paper sensor !!! It recognizes the tray has paper and when the tray is loaded with paper. My suggestion for any dell printers are to take them to your local dump and get rid of it. The only reason I say this is because dell makes these printers where the parts are impossible to get and when you can find them your better off buying a new one!! I know it's frustrating but my suggestion is to try Hp or a diffrent MFG!! Good Luck! Thanks
