Tip & How-To about Nintendo Wii Console

Everything is plugged in but your Wii won't turn on

Okay so you have everything plugged in, but all of a sudden your Wii won't turn on, right? Maybe there was a power outage or your circuit breaker was flipped, or maybe nothing happened, but the fact remains that it won't work and you don't know why.

There is a decent chance that your Wii's power cable needs to be reset.

To reset the power cable you need to:
1) Unplug the power cable from the Wii and the wall.
2) Let it sit and rest for 10-15 minutes.
3) Plug everything back in.
4) Turn on your Wii.
It should work at this point if that is the problem.

It may sound silly but Nintendo built in the reset mechanism due to power cable failures and it often is the resolution to a Wii not turning on.

Good luck!

my wii won't turn on

Wii Console Won't Turn On, and Has No Power Light Situation:
  • The Wii console won't power on, and the Power LED is unlit
  • The console powers on, but shuts off after a few seconds/minutes
  • Attaching an accessory to the console turns the power off

Information:
This issue can be caused by an accessory or power surge tripping the circuit breaker on the AC Adapter.

What To Do:
  • Check any accessories attached directly to the console to make sure that it is licensed and undamaged. Unlicensed or damaged accessories shouldn't be used with the console.

  • Try using a different wall outlet, or plug a different device into the outlet to make sure the outlet is providing power.

  • Perform an AC Adapter Reset. (How To)

We had a power outage and no longer have power to our Wii game. We unplugged everything, waited and plugged everything back in. Still doesn't work. I know this work from some people, but, unfortunately not us. HELP PLEASE

This is most likely not an issue with the Wii. Try using it in a different outlet and a different TV. Most likely your circuit breaker needs a fuse to be reset. Check it out and see if there are any switches the do not face the same direction as the rest.

the power went out for a second yesterday and made everything turn off and turn back on. The wii however turned off and never turned back on. I've tried unplugging and replugging, reset the plug etc and nothing has turned it back on, can you help me?

Are you sure the plug you are using is still good? Did you have to reset the breaker after the power outage? Try plugging it somewhere else. If it still doesn't work it means something's fried. Try to get your hands on an other Wii power cable and try it to see if it works. If it does then you'll just have to replace the power cord, if it doesn't you'll have to send your console over to Nintendo. Hope this help, please rate and testify =)

Power Outage & Now Wii Won't Power Up...

When this same thing happened to me, I unplugged the Wii power supply from the wall (not just from the back of the Wii) and let it sit unplugged for about 10 minutes. When I plugged it back in, everything was fine.
