How to i reimage my ibm r52

Hi, During the boot at the THINKPAD SCREEN press the Thinkvantage key ( Blue button ) it will launch rescue and recovery and allow you to reboot factory. This only works if you did not corrupted/deleted the rescue and recovery hidden partition on the HDD. Otherwise you will need the rescue and recovery CD to proceed. IBM/Lenovo support should be able to provide you the CD, give them a call. thanks and have a nice day J-

Laptop screen displays vertical lines of various colours

Have you tried to connect your laptop to external monitor?
If you get normal picture on external monitor, then you need to replace LCD screen, but if you get same picture on external screen, then unfortunately you will need new motherboard, because graphics card is integrated to motherboard.

I am using IBM R52.. now, i forgot the bios password.. what are all the options to reset the password?...

Thinkpad R52. There is a very good piece of software that you can download from Sourceforge.net. Its a linux software but works very well. Once you download install on a CD. This IBM has the ability to actually store three separate passwords for it's hardware before you get to windows. The toughest being the HDD (hard drive)password. This password is embeded in the boot table and cannot be removed because of the nature of it's function.

Good luck

MY IBM Thinkpad R52 laptop is not entering in BIOS setup

OK< this is main fix I start with when working with a Thinkpad...Unplug from the AC adapter...remove the battery, and the cmos battery. That is the one about the size of a quarter. Leave them out for about 20 minutes. re assemble and try again...hope this helps...
