I have a Lenovo S10e IdeaPad that was given to me by DET NSW (Department of Education and Training, New South Wales, Australia) to 'assist' us with 'learning'.
Anyway, whenever I try to start it up, I press the power button, the power button lights up, the wireless connection lights up, the light to the right of the power button lights up for about 3 seconds prior to start-up, the computer starts humming for about 6 seconds, but the screen stays blank. Nothing happens on the screen, as if it were off.
I know many people have posted this or a similar problem, but I have tried all of the solutions and none of them worked. I have tried taking the battery of and the power cord out and holding the power button in for 60 seconds. I also tried leaving the battery out for the night, with the computer off and the power cord out.
I know it's not a problem with the battery because it works fine in my friends computer and I don't think it's a problem with the screen. I called Lenovo and they have proved useless.
The OS is Windows 7 and it is running on 2 gigs of RAM and Intel Atom
Any Help is welcome, and if you need any further information I will try and get is ASAP. Also my E-Mail address is:

Thanks!
If your sure the screen is not the problem then unfortunatly your looking at a motherboard issue and this proves sort of costly sometimes i know its a real pain but you can have someone repair it for you or simply buy another motherboard and have it installed im sorry but that is all you can do at this point! i hope this helps!
Testimonial: "Thanks for the help."
Hi There,
I am a TSO appointed to 2 schools for these government netbooks.
If your screen has stopped working you need to take it to your TSO (technology support officer) appointed to your school.
Attempting to fix hardware issues yourself is infact, breach of the charter and you can unfortunately, be punished for it.
If for some reason you cannot contact your TSO (even though they should be there 5 days a week), contact me and I will log a DET warranty call for you.
Cheers.

Usually answered in minutes!
Also, the laptop is only about a month old.
Any other help is welcome.
Well the compuer decided to fix its self, but here's a solution that might help other people having the same problem:
1) Make sure the computer is off and remove the battery and power cords.
2) Once they have been removed, hold the power button in for 60 seconds.
3) After that put the battery in, but dont put the power cord in.
4) After that, turn on the computer, BUT HOLD DOWN THE POWER BUTTON, and hold F9 and F10 as soon as the power comes on.
5) hold them both down for about 10 seconds, and the computer will turn on and display the 'Lenovo' screen, and the computer will start up like normal.
thanks guys u r amazzzzzzzzzzzzzinnnn ;)
