Can lexmark x4650 be set to recognize fax?

For more details on how to setup your Lexmark X4650 printer for faxing, please refer to the User's Guide found on the Lexmark website.
Additional info:If you have an answering on the same line as your fax:

To make sure the printer picks up incoming faxes, set Auto Answer to On, and then set the printer to pick up after a greater number of rings than the answering machine. For example, if the answering machine picks up calls after four rings, then set the printer to pick up after six rings. This way, the answering machine picks up calls first and your voice calls are received. If the call is a fax, then the printer detects the fax signal on the line and takes over the call.

If you have a voicemail feature associated in the same line as your fax:

Voice mail and fax can share the same telephone line if you subscribe to a distinctive ring service offered by your telephone company. This feature allows you to have multiple telephone numbers on one telephone line. Each telephone number has a designated ring pattern (single ring, double ring, triple ring, or double and triple ring). The different ring patterns let you know which telephone number was dialed, and which device you should use to answer the call.

If you do not have distinctive ring service, then set the printer to receive faxes manually (Auto Answer Off). This setting lets you receive both voice calls and fax calls, but works best if you use voice mail more often. You need to turn off voice mail whenever you are expecting a fax.

Fax won't answer

I don't use an answering machine. My phone has voice mail but the machine is not even recognizing when a fax comes in. The fax call goes into the voice mail each time. The phone line is working-I get a...

You need to set your phone to pick up later than the fax machine. set it to pick up on the 4th or 5th ring, set the fax to pick up at 2 or 3. Better yet, get a distintive ring # set up by your phone co. then the fax will only recognize that ring.

Printer says DR mode in use what does this mean

DR Mode means distintive ring. This is if you are using two or more phone numbers on one line. For example, you could have your voice mail number and your fax number on the same line, but when a call comes in to your voice mail the fax will recognize the ring pattern and won't pick up the call. If it is truly a Fax, then your fax will pick up the call by recognizing the ring pattern.

Is it possible to prevent the MX700 from receiving & printing incoming faxes (junk faxes)?

It is not designed to do so but try this... Go into your FAX menu and select "Display Device Settings." From there, choose RX settings and then DRPD. DRPD is designed to allow you fax to only answer calls with a distintive ring pattern. By setting it to a pattern that doesn't exist, it should allow the calls to be ignored. Try setting it to something like short short long. Once thats done, go into "User Settings" and "RX Level" and set the volume to zero so you don't hear it ring. If that doesn't work about all you can do is keep the phone line unplugged until you need to send a fax.

I have a Canon MX310. When I receive a telephone call from a mobile phone, the fax machine cuts in and tries to receive. How do I stop this?

In the menu: Telephone Priority Mode will work. Also, set RING COUNT in RX SETTINGS under FAX SETTINGS to allow an answer machine to pick up the phone first. Also, you can ask your Telephone Co. for a distintive ring on you line, this will tell the unit that a fax is coming in. AT&T calls it the service "RingMaster" Good Luck, Joe Please remember to rate Techs who assist you for free :)

HP 4110 OFFICEJET ALL IN ONE

Hi red,

You may need to set the fax as the default answerer of incoming calls. Here's a little tip, most local phone companies offer a distintive ring feature that only the fax will answer. If you get the option your users manual will tell you how to set up this feature and whats neat about is you get a seperate
number for that feature, your own dedicated fax line without add any extra outside lines.
