I have a averatec Voya 350 GPS handheld unit that does not work anymore. It starts up, but when you press ''Navigation'' it says that there is no software installed. I've checked the sd card and it is UNLOCKED, and I have pressed the reset button but it still does not work. How do I get it to work again, or where can I get the software to reload it again?

The "Approaching Turn" message is coming from an active navigation on your device. To turn it off, press and hold on the left side of the bezel (GPS), then press the lap/reset/quit key to exit the compass screen. You should then be in the GPS menu. There should be an item in this menu titled "Stop XXXX" where XXXX is "Navigating", or "Back to Start", or something like that. Select that option, and it should stop the navigation, and eliminate the "Approaching Turn" messages.

you need to reload the firmware in the unit and reload the map data on the SD card, this will fix your issues. as finedrive is not around anymore, here are the files:

Are you using a USB cable & charger to operate the GPS?

If so, you should stop and use the supplied cradle / power cord to power the GPS instead. The USB cable is used to transfer data to and from the GPS and on other models (maybe your 350, too) to slow charge the GPS battery when completely discharged. Powering with the USB cable will power up the GPS, but does not allow navigation, mapping, etc.

What is your version of firmware? At the main menu, press the wrench symbol, then the gear symbol and then the "about" button.

Tell me what the GPS firmware version is. If it's v6.1, there is a bug in that version that defeats the attention tone.

You can also try to see if the tone has been turned off. The tone setting is found in the Navigation menu. Look for "Attention Tone" setting. You can toggle it on or off... however if you have firmware version v6.1, the tone will no longer work.

try the GARMIN nuvi

I had a similar problem. I removed and re-inserted the battery, and all is well.

The unit will work in Brazil, but you do have to purchase the maps for Brazil from Garmin. Go to www.garmin.com and click on the Nuvi 350. Then click on Maps and it should show you the SD Card maps for Brazil and the purchase price.
