The network key is an encryption key ie. WEP/WPA-PSK key.
This key is configured in the wireless setup of the wireless access point or wireless router.
The key can be a hexadecimal number but most people use a Passphrase.
The Passphrase can be a phrase such as "I'm am so smart 12345" and this is used to generate the hexadecimal encryption key.
For instructions on setting up and configuring the wireless security for your access point (this apply to wireless access points and wireless routers), please click in this link and follow my instructions :-

Cant connest to wireless network

To connect your computer to a wireless router, you click the Refresh network list, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connect to your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Key before allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This Network Key is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is used to configure the Wireless Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way to setup the Encryption key.
When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrase that was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router. http://www.fixya.com/support/r5270415-network_password_network_address For information on securing your wireless network, configuring the wireless router and configuring the wireless card in the laptop/computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

Hi! You can download it in this link:

http://download.cnet.com/802-11b-g-Atheros-Wireless-Lan-Driver-7-1-0-90-zip/3000-2112_4-162108.html?tag=mncol;2

Lost signal on acer aspire 6530 lap top, dont know if my daughter has pressed a wrong button or switch ?

There is a little satellite icon next to the always blue (when turned on) skip to next (song) and stop (square) touch buttons. Put your finger on the satellite icon for a few seconds, then move off, a green message should come up on the bottom of your screen saying "Wireless LAN enabled", if it says "Wireless LAN disabled" then there is another problem with your connection.
When the wireless is enabled check that you're connected to the wireless network. Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center (in Vista) you should be able to see:
"Access Local and Internet"

If it's not connected to the internet try resetting your wireless router, if that doesn't work, check you have the correct network password. Right click the two little PC screens (icon) in the bottom left, in the new window right-click your network and go to properties. In the new window, "Security" tab check the settings and type in the correct network security key (password) again. Hopefully you will have a record fo the network security key or your problem will have already been fixed before you get to this point. :)

Lan internet

Hi,

the easiest way to setup internet on the laptop, is to go to control panel, and launch the network setup wizard. this will enable you to setup a new network, and scan for a local area network connection. this will also give you access to the troubleshooter. to solve any connection problems or issues, should there be any. If your using a wireless method. Your PC must also be able to transmit/receive wireless Signals. If hardwired you,ll have to use the network setup wizard, as this will auto determine I.P And any other DNS settings et,c.

Hope this Helps Mike @ compurepair.

Hi, have just purchased toshiba satellite pro L300 PSLB1A which has a realtek RTL8187B wireless 802.11b/g 54Mbps usb 2.0 network adapter.(internal) and it refuses to connect to my new Linksys wireless...

If you have more than one computer on your network, try disabling the firewalls on all computers and trying again. If this works, then you need to adjust your firewall settings to allow your network to function properly. If this does not work, you may have to log into your linksys router and check the wireless settings.

Let me know what happens.
