CAN NOT PRINT LIGHTSCRIBE LABLE

Below is a link for the instructions to use Lightscribe. One thing people do not think about on this, do you have an actuall Lightscribe disk? These are the only disks that will allow you to create a lable in the Lightscribe drive.

download light scribe app. if your writer is light scriber enabled which prints on CD/DVD as per the selection made through lightscribe app. else you print CD label through NERO 8.0 which has amazing feature of nero cover designer.

these apps. are self explanatory and will automatically guide you and help you create CD labels
at your ease.

Printing Directly onto a CD or DVD in Roxio Express Labeler

1. Make sure that the product is turned on and that the USB cable is connected to the product and the computer.
2. Click Start , click All Programs , click Roxio , and then click Roxio Express Labeler v3 .
3. Click Disk Label , then click Options . Figure 1: Options 1 - Options button

5. Make sure that LightScribe 12cm Disc is selected from the Disc Label menu, then click OK to return to the Roxio Express Labeler window.

7. Click Background , then click Import Background to use an image on the computer as the background on the CD or DVD. Click OK to return to the Roxio Express Labeler window. Figure 5: Background option 1 - Background button
8. Insert a LightScribe CD or DVD into the LightScribe drive of the product. Make sure that the label side of the disc is facing down.
9. In the Roxio Express Labeler window, click Print . The LightScribe label is printed on the CD or DVD. Figure 6: Print 1 - Print button

its not NEW its , NEW OLD STOCK (NOS)
old lightscribe, drive. the drive that prints labels on top.
NO OS STATED nor any PC stated.. wow.
Lightscribe is mostly not supported now. (read the wiki, on that it dont lie)
obviously and very hard to diagnose.
1-bad drive.
2: bad driver for drive
3: upgrated OS and it dont support this (why post lacking OS)????
4: bad media.

From HP's official site, they started phasing out Lightscribe drives in HP computers in 2011, due to "industry conditions beyond our control."
windows 8, 8.1 and w10 its not supported.
go to HP.com read what your PC supports, with the unstated
by you PC, and unstated OS
tdk and verbatium stopped making them.

hello, did you get firmware update for the lg unit? they give updates to give the drive more capabilities. if you bought the drive, and added it the lg updater is on the cd with all the other software,nero,ect. it is called lg odd auto firmware updater. this may help you,and i could not hurt the system. they give me 2 updates a year(love lightscribe) other possible things, did it stop working after a nero or other software change or update? if you need further assistance reply.

Try a firmware upgrade by downloading it from the internet but make sure the serial numbers match exactly. If that fails then it my need replacing.

Software problem with NERO and Surething LightScribe. Didn't see the "LightScribe' option in thier software.

Droppix Lightscribe software worked fine.

2. If your HP came with sonic and you installed Nero or something else there is a good chance neither programs will work.

I had the same issues with my lightscribes (2) I thoughtlessly installed Nero without removing the Sonic Digital Media + in my HP the burner no longer worked, I reinstalled both programs after removal. I had to run the Nero Clean Tool first

before the burner would work again.... only with the Sonic though Nero never did anything but mess up my burner, the lightscribe came back after installing the correct drivers, if your lightscribe is very light almost unseeable, then there is a contrast enhancer for the lightscribe

You have to have an application to use the LightScribe function; Nero Burning ROM and a bunch of others can do it, including some standalone apps. In the burning application, just create a volume with a LightScribe label, and it will prompt you to take a burned CD and flip it top-down in the burner for labeling. If you run some standalone app, it will have you do the same thing once your design is saved...and you tell it to go to work (or you can send to a print driver which just happens to be the lightscribe application.)
There's a huge difference in design complexity allowed between various applications; be sure and get one that suits you best. Try VersionTracker as an application catalog if you like.
