Drive will not show up on 'my computer'

Bytecc ME-740 Series external drive. I plug it in and the computer shows that I can safely remove it, but it does not show up in "my computer".

Hello

Ok, this might just fix your problem. The thing is, if you have more than one drive attatched to your computer, the drive letters of the drives may overlap, causing some drives not to show in My computer.

Just follow these steps and you might be able to fix the problem.

Go to:
Start
Control panel
Administrative tools
Computer Management
Storage
Disc Management
Now you should be able to see your drive in the schematic shown below.

Right click on the drive and choose to change drive letter or paths. If there is no drive letter assigned to your external, assign one, if there already is a drive letter assigned to the drive, change it.

Hope this can help you.

Kind regards
Andrea

Can I use a Bytecc BT-144 usb external floppy disk drive with an iMac running OS 10.10.1?

I'm not a Mac tech, but I wouldn't see why not. Floppy drives are kinda old school now. You may need a driver for the floppy. Check online and see what you can find. Download and install it.

Or you may have to plug the floppy in, then reboot, to get the Mac to recognize it, especially with a USB port. Some old Windozz machines were like that...maybe your Mac too????

Mac OS is very close to Linux/Unix systems, which have awful support for floppy drives. That's another possibility.

If your windows machine can't read the disk, makes me think the floppy drive is bad or you have corrupted files on the disk. Try a couple known good floppy disks on the Windoz box and see what happens. Or another removable floppy drive. They cost $5 to $10 now.

My Computer not showing my toshiba canvio hard drive

Have you tried shutting down the computer ... unplugging the hard drive ... re-starting the computer .... and plugging in the hard drive (after the system is all ready for use) ?
It's likely the hard drive was "ejected" ... (after defrag ? or when the system went into standby/hibernation) .... and hence you see the icon in the task bar ... indicating that you can safely unplug the hard drive from the computer.

Bought a Bytecc external floppy drive for my xp cant get it to work i put the disc in but nothing happens

Look to see if it shows up in your device manager. If there, delete and reinsert it from scratch. See if the drive hums once when you plug it in (recognizing it). USB cable might be broken inside if it does not register.

My external hdd from bytec is not recognized by my computer. What shall I do?

Try to use direct connection to your computer. Using IDE cable.
If your comp can detect, means your external casing problem.
If not detect, your hard disk problem

Windows won't recgonize my enclosure

My Setup:
Bytecc Model ME-535 hard drive enclosure with Seagate 80GB SATA drive (ST380815AS) hard drive.

My Problem:
I plugged in but didn't see anything in My Computer.

My Solution:
After Windows finds your device -> Start -> Run -> compmgmt.msc -> OK -> click on Disk Management -> a pop up will ask if you want to initialize the disk, select MBR -> OK -> your disk should show up as unallocated -> right click on that disk -> New Simple Volume -> Next -> next -> Assign drive letter: E -> Next -> Format this volume NTFS with quick format -> Next -> Finish -> It takes a minute or two to finish formatting -> Now shows up in disk management as "Disk1: New Volume (E:) -> My Computer -> see E drive now and it is working!
