Hey there, i have a Harmon Kardon avr 144 and a set of polk audio RTI a 5's with a sub, I have noticed some distortion with the mids, and have tried another set of speakers and still hear this distortion. i was wondering if there is anything i can try, i have tried reconnecting the speaker wires. Any ideas?
This sounds like the amplifer is playing up. If the distortion is on more than one channel, you are looking at a faulty part common to both channels. If on one channel only, perhaps something in the pre-amp or power amp sections. Have a look inside, you might find a burnt resistor, which would cause it.
