We just started having the same problem, after 2 years without problems our sound and picture will go out for 15-60 seconds and then come back on at first, without sound then sound returns after about 15 seconds. All indicator lights near the power button are normal. We called out the cable people thinking that the problem was our service but then we noticed it happen while we were watching a DVD. Bad timing since this just started happening this past Superbowl Sunday before our big party. Not sure what the issue is.

Sounds like you need to replace the lamp. The owners manual should show you how to replace the lamp. You can order the lamp through Sony on their website. Good Luck

Did you check the service manual troubleshooting guide yet. You can try disconnecting the power to the inverter board and see if it will stay on and have sound.

Sounds like it may be a power supply issue. I don't know what "modules" the tech replaced, but I would have advised you to scrap the TV for a newer model as they can get pretty expensive to find and replace parts of the older rear projections. Sorry I can't be more help to you.

I had the same exact problem.
I removed the bulb and cleaned it. There is a small screen at the top of the bulb and it was covered with dust. Once it was cleaned I replaced the bulb and it solved the problem.
Thanks to those who posted the solutions
