I just installed a new Dell 1600n printer bought on Ebay. As I understand it these are actually the replacement units that Dell sends out when a new machine goes belly up, so they may actually be rebuilt units. I am pleased with the performance so far except for the longish warmup time as compared to my kaput HP 3015. However, it does have an annoying whine when just sitting inactive. Is this whine a charactieristic of the 1600n or should I be asking for a replacement unit? That whine will stop after about 20-30 minutes of inactivity.
Under the settings for the printer you will often see an option for power save mode. if enabled warm up time is significantly longer, hope that helps a bit.
Testimonial: "It didn't fix the problem, but I did get the whine from 30 minutes to 5 minutes...still highly undesirable."

The1600n pick up roller part number R5375 is probably cracked and otherwise in need of replacement. They cost about $20 - $50 from various sources. Try ebay and Amazon.com first.
Just call Dell Tech support. It's in their policies that if you call them and complain about a heat issue, they'll replace the unit for safety reasons.
Fuser issues - if problem is reoccuring then you are looking at more expense, are all vents free of obstructions (folders leaning on machine sides/rear) is machine being flogged, is power supply consistent, maybe even fuser bought was faulty, many options, try doing a warranty claim on fuser or replace again, even better get another printer, welcome to our throw away world!
I have bought a cartridge from a third party and my printer says non dell cartridge and I can't get it to print. What do I need to do to get the 1600n accept this cartridge?
