Hi, I have a Samsung LN40A550 LCD TV which I have had for just over a year. ... I was watching TV yesterday and all of a sudden the picture went all. ... started makinga very high pitched buzzing sound with no picuture coming on. We did have a bunch of green vertical lines, but now just a black screen.

This set has major power board issues...it would need replacing but don't expect a new board to last over a couple yrs, might make more sense to buy a TV that isn't made by Funai in China, those sets are very cheaply made and have a short life...Try LG, Samsung or Sony

Either your inverter board or video board is bad. If you can see picture while the TV is on then its your inverter board. If not, video board.

Most likely you have defective capacitors in the Power Supply. It is not an expensive repair but something that needs to be done by a svc. co., if your not familiar with Switch Mode Power Supplies (SMPS). I hope this helps and Thank You for using FixYa.. Let me know....

it should have a year warranty get it in for warranty repair before the warranty runs out or someone tells you the wrong thing to go and the tv ends up as a big paperweight...

Help! My Plasma by Magnavox is putting black verticle lines on the right side of the screen - comes and goes - and I replaced the entire Direct TV-HD unit - wires, everything - and had TV company repair - and it still came back. The TV repair refuses to take TV back because it does not show up when they come. Although I videotaped it and showed them which has the date and time - they still refused to take it - and tried to get me to sign a paper saying it was working while they were there - which of course I refused to sign - so they left and nastily said they will not be back-find someone else. I still have the lines - and do not know what to do! Can anyone help?

An earlier post of the smaller model of this with the same problem said to remove the metal cover over the power supply.

I have the 26MF231D and it worked great afterward (even though you can't mount it)

It sounds like u have a damaged lcd panel. When your panel gets like this there is not much u can do to fix it. It will be cheaper to get another TV than to order a replacement panel. If your bought the service protection plan you can get it replace no problem but if you didn't. There is not much you can do for it.
