That is the classic symptom when your convergence ICs go out. They usually take out the two resistors that drive the ICs as well. This is a easy fix if you can solder. Your ICs are located on a large heat sink on the left side of the chassis they will have an STK392-110 number or similar number. They cost about 10.00 each. Let me know if I can assist you with any other info.

The chassis will slide out if you remove the screws in the frame along the back. You may have to give the wires some slack from the plastics ties that they have securing the wires. That silver box is the heat sink the ICs are on the other side of that. Mounted on the back side. Did you get the service manual? It will show you exactly where everything is located and how the chassis is laid out.

How do I view movies in 3D on the Mitsubishi WD-Y65?

WD-Y65 is NOT a 3D ready TV. You either have to change the TV to see the movie in 3D, or just watch it in 2D in you current TV.

I have the same TV as yours. Current I connect a desktop PC to the TV via DVI port, and I watch Avatar using colorcode 3D(Amber/Blue) with Stereoscopic Player from It might be a way for you to enjoy 3D without change the whole thing, but it's an entire different topic.

Have a Mitsubishi WS-65819 (about 9 yrs). over past 3-4 weeks the color started to skew (3D like arch on top and bottom), then yesterday, the TV totally powered down and will not power up, totally dead. ...

You lost your convergence IC's and possibly a resister or two that are in the same circuit. If you are good at Soldering, this should be somewhat of an easy fix. I believe you can still get the IC's for this set.

The picture has a curve at the top and bottom and the colors sometime look 3d

The convergence chips are bad and need to be replaced. Also, possibly resistors and fuses.
