I have a brother HL-2030 laser printer that I recently put a new toner cartridge in. It continually prints test pages (between one and ten), even when it is disconnected from my computer. I usually turn it off when I am not using it so maybe this is what is causing it, I do not know, all I know is that this is wasting a lot of toner. Is there anything I can do to stop it?
Disconnect the printer from your pc and clear out all print jobs... leave it on and let it sit for a day... if no test page prints then the problem is your pc... if it starts printing like crazy then reset it via page 54 of the user guide if it still prints like crazy with the network cable or usb cable disconnected then you need to call brothers tech support but more than likely it shouldn't do anything... if this is the case... the problem is your pc... or your server...

Brother HL 2040 Printer Repair solution for multiple page jams For more Info ... My Brother HL2030 laser printer is making a groaning/grinding noise on ..... FIX YOUR PRINTER: ERROR: Printer Does not Grab Paper fromTray ...
Most laser printer do not have a page counter, because the toner cartridge may come in a couple of toner sizes and there is no way of accurately determine how much tone is used on each page as this can vary considerably. If the printer gives a message that the toner is low, you can get several more prints by shaking the toner in a horizontal position and placing it back into the printer.
I found just doing this one simple thing sorted the problem.
First take off the front cover. Pull the tabs on the side. Pull out the big toner and cartridge. Do you see the blue tab on the top shaped like an arrow/triangle? Slide the tab from right to left - reinsert toner close door. Hope it works for you
Hi.
Its nearly what the last post states,
I have had brother help desk on the phone recently due to this problem. If you get a toner cartridge that has no numbers on it, ( brother orginal parts have huge numbers stamped on the case) then the cartridge needs resetting, this is done by simply pushing the white lever on left handside about 40 degrees forwards, its stiff so give it a proper hard shove. No srews etc to undo.
Hey presto your light will go out.
