Akai pt4298hd 42 inch projection tv has red and green haze.part number stk392-040 were replaced 2 years ago.that fixed the problems.the symptons are the same.are these chips easy to acces ?

Yes they are But CK 2 resistors 2.7ohms in front of ICs if they are Bad they can cause same Problem to order new ICs $9.50 each Call Mats Electronics

Convergence is dead.Replaced the 2 convergence ICS,should solved this problems.Try website Tv repair World.com to buy a Whole convergence board to replaced.Samsung/Akai use the same convergence board.
Your green gun in our tv is misagligned/out of focus. Your tv uses red, green and blue guns that layer in different shades and mix to create the different colors. Your green is a little off so the colors aren't mixing right which explains the green haze and the shadows. A tv repair man can fix this problem pretty easily and it isnt expenisve.

OK YOU CANT 'BURN' A REAR PROJECTION BUT THE CONVERGANCE CAN BE GOING OUT BUT I WOULD GUESS THE SIGNAL TELLING THE PROCESSOR - OR THE PROCESSOR ITS SELF- IS PROBLY GOING OUT WHICH MEANS A BOARD NEEDS REPLACING I DONT KNOW WHICH ONE I WOULD GET A PRO TO CHECK IT AND TELL YOU WHICH ONE IT IS THEN ORDER IT ONLINE AND REPLACE IT YOURSELF
your tv is having convergence problems if you can't adjust it out with the customercontrols you probably will have to have the convergence circuit repaired witch should cost about $300
