Hi, the metal cover unscrews and then the head pulls out. The XLR on the bottom has a small grub screw that should be screwed IN, then the xlr comes out.
Measure the voltage comming of pin2 and pin1, or between pin2 and pin3. If you donot get 48 volts the 8801 is bad. check your cable to make sure that pin2 and pin3 are not shorted. If you still have problems you can call Pro Line Music we ae a shure and at dealer. 215-736-8055
