Mitsubishi WS-A55, HD1080 Series TV picture scrolls horizontally
I need help with a Mitsubishi HD1080 Series TV, model #WS-A55, manufactured July 2002. The picture is racing (scrolling/rolling) horizontally across the screen, as though it has no horizontal hold. It does this on all inputs, so it's not the cable box, etc. The only thing unaffected is the MENU. It still comes up and works as it always has, no scrolling/rolling/racing. Audio is fine, also. I did try re-setting all the video, unplugging it overnight, etc. with no luck at all.
This TV has been in the same spot since it was purchased. It has not been moved, neglected, abused, etc. and it makes me mad a set manufactured just 7-1/2 years ago would have a problem like this. We planned to get a flat screen in another year or so, but can't really afford a new TV right now.
I've heard these sets are known to have issues with certain condensers or components on the board that can cause this type of problem. Any advice or suggestions are welcome.
Obviously, the TV is impossible to watch like it is, so any help is much appreciated! THANKS [email protected]

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary

You have either bad convergence ICs or just bad grounds on the IC. I would go ahead and replace the ICs and check those small ohm resistors, as you have to pull the signal board out anyway. For futher instructions see the website www.TvRepairKits.com. They may have what you are looking for. Be sure you have the TV model number next to you. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!
Try using a DVD though the component input (need a 480P out ). If the pix si ok I wouldsuspect the cable box. If the problem is still there I would suspect a video switching IC or a Leaky regulator.
