Turning On but Does not play

I have the RCA Lyra RD1072A, it has a 256 memory card. When I turn it on, it stays on the start up screen (it showes total tracks, the memory card, battery strength and volume) It does not play. In order to shut it off, I have to remove the battery.
1. How can I get it to work without having to remove all of the songs. Is there a reset button?
2. What does DSP stand for and what does it do?
3. What does the Mode do?

I used to own this mp3 and have had it for many years and it has froze up a few times but not like you describe it.

I can answer 2 and 3
2. I dont know what DSP stands for but it optimizes the sound for the genre you select. I personally liked the Rock DSP because it raises the bass.
3. Mode changes the playback mode dice is the shuffle and the circle thingy is if you have like 1 or 2 songs on it and don't want to keep pressing play after its done it automatically keeps playing until the battery dies. I personally don't use the circle mode because if you accidentally leave it on in that mode it drains the battery because it doesn't stop playing.

Memory card question

Hi,

Did you put the memory card in while the device was off? If not, turn the unit off and back on again. It should be pretty straightforward, once you put the card in the player should recognize it.

Pause function for RCA Lyra RD1072A.

This player does not have the true pause you are looking for. The iPod Nano - 2nd generation - has a true pause - once you hit pause it will stay paused and even go to sleep. When you revive the player it will leave off where you left it.

RCA Lyra RD1072A mp3 player wont turn on

Try a firmware upgrade.  I'm trying to look that up right now so that you don't need to thumb through the garbage. everywhere i've read about malfunctions takes an upgrade but still crashes days or weeks later.

Rca lyra rd1072A

You need to switch the lock off on your LYRA. It is located on the back of the device between the pictures of a key and the word "off".

My RCA Lyra RD1072A just doesnt play songs

The most probable cause that I see happening to people with the same item is the fact that somewhere between uses, the setup files in the device itself gets corrupted. When this happens, you're pretty much screwed. You can't access them because it won't let you, you can't format it because it won't let you, you're left with a dead mp3 player. Sorry, but you need to get a new one. The other one is trash.

Erase

You can format the MP3 Player which will wipe it completely clean.

go to the command prompt and format the drive C:\format G:

You can do the same thing for the SD card while it's still in the MP3 Player. Just go to My Computer and find out which drive it is located in.

Memory card question

It should read the songs automatically. Once you have inserted the card with MP3 Format or WMA formatted songs it should read it.
