Well, I scoured the internet, and so far, I see a lot of people have this problem, including IT professionals. Among the proposed solutions are:
Downloading the latest version of java; Delete cookies and offline files as suggested above; (you can also do this from tools, internet options)
Download the latest adobe shockwave; disable antivirus programs (especially norton) and windows firewall (control panel, security center)
register various dlls such as msjava; (you do this by start, run, regsvr32 msjava.dll)
scan for spyware; (A good program is spybot)
reboot in safe mode; (press f8 repeatedly while the computer is booting up) If this works, it suggests spyware but evidently that's not the problem)
enable an active x control called Web Browser Applet Control from Sun Microsystems.
Reset internet security to default (This is also in internet options, under tools in Internet explorer)
run some kind of fix registry utility such as norton system works 2003 (be careful, some of these things can mess your computer up or be spyware themselves)
I already tried downloading java from sun, deleting cookies and files, resetting ie security to low, disabling the firewall it didn't work, and repairing the lan connection (the computer is on a network but it is the only one with a problem)
When I can return to the computer with the problem I'm going to try all this other stuff, will try to let people know what worked, if anything.
At the home page as you log in click on mail.
also try to space up your desk.
click start
click run
type in inetcpl.net
then delete cookies, delete files
