If the camera has recently been dropped you may have lens damage that is preventing it from powering up. If it hasn't been dropped your problem may be due to corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera and give them a full charge (assuming that you are using rechargeable batteries). This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

Why doesn't it recognize the correct battery?

hi,
If your camera do not recognize the original battery, it means some wrong information is stored in its software data, to override this please open the camera take out the small memory backup lithium battery, short the battery contact , after a five minutes connect that battery again.

My Casio ExilimEX-Z120 shows 'Low Battery' whenever it is turned on to take a picture and automatically turns off. This happens with fresh batteries. It is fine when I just use the the picture...

It happens because some alkaline batteries just don't have the initial surge of power output required to drive all the little motors, the display and so on.

You need lithium batteries, like the 8x Ultimate Lithium.
They are expensive initially, but on average are more economical than the cheaper stuff.

I've tested them on my Kodak Z712 IS, and any owner of this camera knows what I'm talking about.

The best -and cheapest- solution I found, is the rechargeable Li-Ion batteries.
I got 2 batteries and one charger. I'm using one battery, while the other one is charging.

When I turn the camera on, it immediately turns off. I have changed the batteries twice already. What's causing this?

I don't know the exact fault of this problem, but try these steps for the no power problem: 1. Make sure you will install a new or fully charged battery/batteries into your camera. Please use lithium batteries Ni-Mh or rechargeable Batteries (2000 M.Amp or higher). 2. Clean the battery contacts. a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth. b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera 3. Turn on your camera without the memory card. (If it works then it?s your memory card that is faulty) In order to organise your repair or Trade up please Contact KODAK: http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=14563&pq-locale=en_US&_requestid=3490

I have brand new lithium batteries installed & when i turn camera on, it immediately shuts off. camera is only 1 year old

I have the same problem... cleaning the contacts does not work. I'm using NiMH 2450 mAmp batteries, brand new, and I get a low battery indicator immediately. Camera shuts off unexpectedly. A short search online indicates that HUNDREDS of people are having the same problem. Kodak help not very helpful. I'm ready to buy something else!

Kodak C533 turns on briefly but then turns right back off.

what type of battery are you using?try to use lithium or rechargeable batteries. Alkaline batteries can cause power issues. If you are using a memory card, try taking it off and turn camera on without the memory card. if is still does not power on, camera needs repair. you can set up repair for your Kodak camera at www.kodak.com/go/itg

Camera showing battery exhausted with new batteries

There are three battery type settings in the set up menu: Alkaline, COOLPiX(NiMH) and Lithium. Might be worth looking at. To be continued.
