When Disconnected from the Computer, it doesn't work period.

It sounds like it might be a battery issue. When it is hooked up the computer the USB is providing power to run the ipod and charge the battery. Check to see if the battery is good by testing it with a fluke meter if it is removable. And replace if bad. Also make sure you always release the device from the computer using the "safely remove hardware" function before disconnecting the ipod. This could also cause a problem.

My ipod nano will show its charging but its really not!

when I bought a ipod I researched them first. The lifetime of the batteries in the ipods and mp3 players are only about 2 to 3 yrs, depending on how many times you recharge.

Problem with ihome and ipod nano.

yes, unfortunately the ihome iH9 is not compatible with previous models of the ipod nano.

if you want a similar device, there are many other docking stations for the ipod that are ip0 that ARE compatible with the ipod nano 2G

iH85B is another ihome dock which is compatible with all ipods after the ipod mini (including the ipod nano 2G)
