An alternative is Toshiba MK30006GAL 1.8" drive (5mm thick, 30GB). See this link for more information on what to watch for: http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25877

YH - J70 hard drive replacement

Replacing the hard drive is pretty easy - the back of the case is held on by two screws beneath rubber plugs. Remove them and you just have to pop the back of the case off with a fingernail - don't use a screwdriver! The drive just unplugs. Take the rubber shock surround off it and put it on your new drive. I installed a Toshiba MK3006GAL 30GB - worked fine.

Samsung YH-J70

I had the same problem - the hard drive had failed, which is a common fault. I bought a new one on eBay - a Toshiba MK3006GAL 30GB - which worked fine.

BUT... the drive came completely unformatted and I had to format it on a laptop first as I could not get it to format in the YH-J70. If the drive is FAT32 format, however, you should be OK to just put it in the YH-J70 and format it with Samsung Media Studio.

Cannot charge my yh-j70

When I first got my yh j70 I had the same problem. Have you made sure its in 'charge' mode? When you go to 'settings' there is an option tha allows you to switch from 'charge' mode to USB connect mode. You have to switch it depending on what you are trying to do. Hope this helps.

Error message

Did you try pushing the reset button and/or reinstalling the software? sometimes that helps. Also, I have a question for you: I am thinking of replacing the battery on my yh-j70, as it is getting weak, was it easy for you to open the player and can you then simply pull out the battery or do you have to solder? Would you happen to know where batteries can be bought for this unit? Thank you
