Anonymous Posted on Dec 19, 2009

Hello I have connected the Intex Salt water system up, plugged it into the power and nothing is operating on it. I purchased this from the US and have fitted and international extention so it fits Australian power points. Could you please advise what could be wrong with this machine. Thanks Susan

Be sure it is wired for high or low voltage. In US this would be 110v or 220v I'm not fimallar with this one but most will wire to fit the voltage going to the pump. If it can be wited up or down it will have come from the factory wired 220v so you don't burn it up if wired wrong. As you say your running this on a above ground pool and they are usually wired for 110v.Also be sure you give enough time for the salt to mix as a lot of units won't run if the leavels aren't right. Good luck and I hope I have helped.

How do an intex pump to a non intex pool?

this question has come up before too me , what i respond with is it to be perminate or temporary ? , the reason i ask if its to be perminate then i suggest purchasing the correct filter for the pool, but on temporary situation (to just finish out season) then yes even though the pipe sizes are different , the use of std plumbing home DWV rubber soft connections available at any good hardware/homecenter would work , but heres the temporary part of it , saltwater pool water degrades the rubber making it brittle , but will last a month or so

Have an intex 16 x48" salt water pool generator

I checked the Intex web site and here is what they said:

There are several things you may need to check and do:

- Test the salt level first with Test Kit, and add salt as needed.
- Remove the electrolytic cell for inspection and clean it if necessary.
- If code 91 still appears despite the above steps, there might be a possible electrolytic cell
failure. Please contact Intex Service Center, and replace the cell if needed.

NOTE: Always turn the power off and disconnect power cord before cleaning and servicing.

I hope this helps.

Just purchased and installed Intex salt water system. It shows low flow and now, after 5 days of installment, the water is completely green (expecting Swam Thing to come out!) I need your guidance to...

Seems like you may not have the pump and the salt chlorinator in sync... If your water is dark green and not a big pool, you may want to drain and refill, if you have a large pool, you may want to shock and then try the following...
1.Make sure you have added the correct amount of salt...
2.Set your timer for your pump for 12 hrs.
3.Wait 15 minutes and then turn on your intex salt water system..
4.Set you hrs of operation on your salt water system for 10 to 11 hrs...
5.After running the system for 3 days, check your chlorine level..

If water clears and chlorine level is high, adjust the time.. You will have to re-sync the pump and chlorinator.. If the pump turns off before the chlorinator finishes it's cycle, you will get a "LOW FLOW" alarm..
I hope this helps and good luck.. Please rate and comment on the information provided.

Hello. We are just installing our Intex Salt Water System, model 8111, and we have 2 problems. The first, we added water a couple of weeks ago, the water is now green. Do we have to remove water and start...

The green indicates copper in your water. Please get a sequestering agent from your pool supply place and use according to package instructions. Best to let the CL go down before you apply it. I would expect your new water to turn green when you apply CL to it.

Your system will not start - that is curious. Voltage proper?

Water not clear

cloudy water is mainly due to poor pool maintainence.
Your purchase of the salt water system only helped you with not needing to pour chlorine in or float tablets.
You will still need to use chemecals.
I use a good stabilizer to hold the chlorine level longer
I use a non foaming algecide once a week
I also use a water clarifying product once a week

Now on to the clouds :-)

cloudy water is because of not enough sanitizer mixwd with a crappy pump from intex

I do not know the size of your pool so I will just use mine to show you #'s

I have a 7000gl pool with a 2500gl ph pump
A pool needs to be turned over at LEAST 3 times a day so for me it takes at least 8 hours of filtering alone this does not include making chlorine.
Bottom line is you should run your system 24/7 between generating and straight filtering

The only cure for less filtering is to get a sand filter with at least a 1 horse power pump to pump 4000gl and uphaving a sand filter helps trap more small particles than the cartridge filter.

I noticed the difference the first night I had my sand filter. It ran for 6 hours before me turning my pool light on and to my surprise I did not see as many particles passing my light as with the cartridge filter and the second night nothing Crystal clear.

Bottom line is intex pumps and so on are not big enough for the pool it comes with.

The salt system alone with a sand filter is great

Low salt alarm on Intex system

so what does the test strip say. Should be as close to 3000ppm as possible anything close and under 2700ppm will trigger a low salt also you must run filter only for 24 hours to thouroughly mix the salt before trying to turn on the generator
