We need to know the wireless settings on your router before configuring the laptop.
To check the wireless settings, access the setup page of the router by using the desktop's internet browser. In the address bar, type
192.168.1.1.
Default login is: leave the username blank, then the password is
admin.
Once you are in the setup page, go to the Wireless tab.
Take note of the wireless network name (SSID).
Then go to the Wireless Security tab. Take note of the wireless security settings and the network key (if wireless security is enabled).
On your laptop, in the lower right corner of your screen you will see an icon that looks like this
.
Click the icon and you will see a list of available networks.
Select the SSID of your router then click connect.
If the wireless security is enabled, it will ask for the security key. Type the wireless network key, then click ok.
It will then connect wirelessly.
