Question about Lexmark Z1420 Printer

After refilling cartidge it still says it is empty

I refilled my black cartidge on my wifi lexmark z1420. After replacing it, the printer says that I am out of black ink. It is full and I cleaned the contacts, it releases ink, but since the printer thinks that I am out of ink it will not print. I even tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it, no go. Do I need a ink reset tool if so where can I find one of these. I do not want to buy another cartidge, it is such a waste of money.

I have a z1480 (same as 1420) wifi and all. It does the job but since cartridge are so expensive i tried refilling them & it works, it prints...for now.

The problems is with these intolerable warnings that i am out of ink, they drive me nuts. I've read somewhere that there is a chip inside the printer (not on the head) that basically holds the info & won't give up until a new ink cartridge is installed. Reinstalling the software don't work because of that & i am always afraid that it will just block the printings one of these days.

If anyone has any info on how to get rid of these warnings, pls help.

    Thanx :)

i have a lexmark x2500 and it is saying the same thing, that there is no black ink. I know there is because i just filled it, what do i do now?

Same problem! I found one site
that shows someone covering up certain copper contacts. When I
did this, the printer did not even recognize that there was a
cartridge. I even spoke to someone at Lexmark and he told me that
the cartridge is not reading the ink properly. I responded by
saying "I know that you're a big company and it needs to make
money". He said that it had nothing to with money (yeah
right!) and that Lexmark cartridges don't "work" well after
refilling. He's basically saying that this planned obsolescence
wasn't planned. It reminds of this quick online movie called Story of Stuff.

Anyone know how to overide the software for this product so that it doesn't measure the ink every time?

After a lot of fine tunning, i finally found a way to bypass the low ink, out of original ink, etc., messages. Here goes:

Go to 'control panel'. - select 'printers & faxes' - right click the 1400 series printer - select 'properties' - select the 'advanced' tab - uncheck any checked boxes on the bottom part of the screen (first up is 'hold mismatched documents), that one & the 3 others under MUST BE UNCHECKED to work - then check 'print directly to the printer' option. Close everything & restart computer. If you get an error message it must be because you haven't unchecked all 4 boxes i told you to before.

So, this will bypass the ink check, for some reason it does so while spooling the document you wanna print, i'm no programming wiz so don't ask me how! ;)

This has a downfall: since spooling is disabled & documents are printed directly to the printer, your program may stop responding for the duration of the printing, especially if the document is huge, like graphics. You may not feel it if it is mostly text.

It's a downfall but it's WAY better than having to deal with the EXTREMELY annoying boxes telling you are out of ink. Since i bought this printer 2 months ago i've been trying to find ANY info on how to shut the hell up this printer. I haven't. This is the closest i've come to peace, & since cartridges are so darn expensive... What a racket!

Next step would be for somebody to reverse engineer the printer drivers to bypass the annoying messages, & i am not the man to do it. And i believe this will work with any of the 1400 series that uses the same drivers (z1400-1410-1420-1480).

    Hope this help!

    Ciao :)

I put new cartidges in my x2650printer. At first it showed they where still empty. Now it is showing the colour one full and the black cartridge empty. How can I fix this?

Make sure you are inserting genuine Lexmark cartridges and not refilled or remanufactured by third parties. If you are inserting brand new original supplies, please contact Lexmark technical support center to have it replaced.

My printers color won't work, I just filled it with 4.5 ml of each color. the black is also really patchy. I want my lexmark z1420 to just work!!! Help!!!

It could be due to the refilled cartridge in your printer. Refilled cartridges tend to degrade print quality and in performance. Try to replace your cartridges with genuine Lexmark cartridges.

How do i trick my lexmark z1420 refilled catridge to work?

Most lexmark cartridges need a special refill cartridge, I sure hope you did not use one that says recycle on it if so that will not work ever. You need to puchase a compatable refillable cartridge, there is no tricking it to work if you had this cartridge.

Keeep in mind refilled cartriges can damage the system long term so keep that in mind.

Thanks for using

Problems with Lexmark X2550. I have refiled for the first time a lexmark 28 cartidge. Now I have paper jam all the time, I cannot print and I don`t know what to do. I blame the cartidge, because before...

“Lexmark does not support the refilling of its ink cartridges. Refilling the ink cartridges can cause them to leak, thus clogging or even damaging the print head. Any damage to your printer caused by refilled ink cartridges may not be covered under warranty”. Please use genuine Lexmark cartridges for best results.

Refill instructions for lexmark 23 & 24

You will have to buy a new one because the return program cartidges are not reuseable. I read somewhere that the usage is connected to the cartridge, so even if you exchange one with a friend, theirs will not work on yours. Not sure how this works, but I had one and could not figure out how to bypass this feature. Best solution I found was to buy a new printer. It was cheaper than buying new cartridges.

Printer doesn't reset after refil

I don't know what this "refill starter pack" contains but you HAVE TO change the chip of the cartridge otherwise the printer does not know that you changed/refilled the cartridge.

Low ink

Wow, nice "solution," Printech. That is BS. There has to be a way to trick this printer into using refilled ink. If not, why would they sell refilled ink kits for this printer? Cut the **** and give us a SOLUTION. I refuse to pay $30 for a "certified Lexmark" cartridge when I can spend $15 for a refilled one.

Missing cartridge for the lexmark z1420

Try resetting the ink settings on the printer's program. I use compatable cartidges all the time in my lexmark no problems, as long as i always rest the ink before i start a new one. Try a good clean too. Why are you contacting hp site if your printer is a lexmark. You need the lexmark site. I thought your printer issue is with a lexmark z1420
