If your using HD, then use the RGB component input 1. or AV 1 if your not using HD.
The important thing is the source setting on your TV matches the input you plugged into.
Depending on your satellite box, the optimum cabling maybe different. Lowest video would be the coax cable, then "Yellow-white-red" RCA cables ( COMPOSITE ), then SUB "S" wire, then , then RGB cables, then COMPONENT ( labeled Y-CB-CR ), then HDMI, which is what I have on my box.
If the setup on your TV / Monitor does not label the inputs as they are labeled on the physical inputs, check your manual or just plug it in and rotate the source inputs until you see the picture.
Good Luck
EXT means external input,i.e.from an outside or alternate source.
That source could be a DVD / VCR , cable box, video game, etc.
2) New dvd/vcr recorders allow A / V inputs only,usually obtained
from a source box ( cable or satellite ) They do not have coax cable input/output,also known as RF in/RF out.
3)The dvd/vcr manufacturer expects the consumer to upgrade equipment periodically. If your TV or A/V receiver ( surround sound) has a video monitor output, problem solved!
Hope I helped you ......T.
