Re: I can smell items in my freezer when I open the door...
Good day, All cooling in a refrigerator, be it the freezer section, or the fresh food section is performed by the freezer. The freezer takes care of itself, but also by the function of the fan motor in the freezer, blows a limited amount of the freezer air into the fresh food compartment to cool it to the nominal 37 degrees.
The odor in the freezer is disguised by the extremely cold air, and is not apparent. But that odor when raised to 35 or 40 degrees will become noticeable. As well, the freezer compartment rises to 30 degrees plus when going thru it's automatic defrost cycle, which occures for approx. 30 minutes once or twice a day, adding to the problem. Sealing the packages is probably the only real answer.

Please note when you keep fish in freezer once, the smell will be longer even you remove it. O.K. Now solution for your problem- Please unplug power.Keep fridge door open. Take wet cloth dipped in soap water and clean all compartment including freezer . Keep freezer door also opened. Then clean with dry cloth. Spray room spray in your room not into the fridge. And allow 5 hrs to circulate fresh air to pass thr' your fridge and then close fridge and freezer doors. Plug fridge and run for one hour on empty. After one hour store items in fridge and/or freezer. Keep all food items in closed style which will avoid odor spreading and also be a hygienic. Thanks.
There are two reasons for bad smells. 1. Long time not being used. 2. Lack of cleaning inside compartment.
Solution: Unplug fridge. Keep open fridge door. Dip a dry cloth in soap water and start cleaning each and every compartment. Keep freezer door also open. And then clean with another dry cloth. Keep both doors open for nearly 5 hrs. It will be enable fresh air to **** the smell inside fridge. After 5 hrs close the fridge and run on empty for one hour. Keep food items after one hour. Please keep all food items closed vessel. Not only it's avoid odor but also be hygienic. If you use to keep fish items in freezer, clean fridge once in a week.(Spray roo spray in the room when you keep fridge door opened. Don't spray into fridge.)Helpful.
the smell is bacteria caused by the buildup of moss from condensation.switch off unit do a complete defrost,( leave the doors open).wipe out the interior with chlorine bleach(the smell will go in about an hour or so)syringe the drain with bleach and then dry thoroughly.after drying switch on and leave to settle for 24 hours to regain operating temp(fridge +2/5c...freezer -18c)then refill with food, covering any open dishes.try to fill all drawers in freezer with food and any spare space fill with screwed up newspaper.
use a toothbrush to get into door seals/corners DO NOT USE HEAT/SHARP OBJECTS TO DEFROST.use towels in bottom to soak up all the water....
Can you describe the smell or relate it to something common? Plastic, burned wires, fishy, rotted meat, etc. Is it only when you open the door or can you smell it outside too? Are the temps normal in the freezer and refer sections? When did the smell suddenly get noticed?
